Mike Ward
#80
Mike Ward drives the #80 Ford Focus Midget
Class car. He lives in Charlotte, NC.
Team members helping Mike are:
Scott Ryerson. Robert Ward is the car owner.
Mike started racing in 1983 in the 250cc
Micro Sprint Class at Rock Rest Speedway because he had been racing
motor cross and kept getting hurt and beat up! The class had
motorcycle engines so the transition was easy. His first win was
in 1986 in the 250cc Class at Rock Rest Speedway. Career
highlights include the Fast Time 2000 NMMA Nationals at Marion, IL, 1999
Fast Time Eastern Raceway in Charleston, IL.
The thrill of racing for Mike is the
mechanical part, making the car run better. His most exciting
racing moment is when the 410's line up and ready to start! He's
most proud of he and his Dad doing it together.
Mike's racing hero is Roger Penske.
Of racing, Mike says, "It is not as easy
as it looks. It takes a lot of athletic ability!".
