Terry started racing in 1972 in the AMA
Motorcycle Class at Linden IN because he was young and passionate about
everything. He saw that racing was exciting and ego driven.
His first win was in 1973 in the AMA Novice Class at Terra Haute Action
Track. Career highlights include #3 in the Nation as a AMA Novice,
top 10 in nation as a AMA Junior, top 24 in the nation as a Rookie
Expert, National #73 as 2nd year Expert AMA, won Tony Hulman Sprint
National in 1999, and he won Vince Osmond Sportsmanship Award in 2000.
The thrill of racing for Terry was
winning Masters at Knoxville on his first try. Hard, clean,
passionate and the competition are thrills in racing for Terry.
His most exciting racing moment was coming through the non-qualifier
Heat, starting 21st and beating JJ Yeley with 3 laps to go in 1999 at
Tony Hulman Nationals at Terre Haute. He's most proud that the
racing community gives him the awesome opportunity to encourage them in
their faith that Jesus is a real person with a real desire to give them
peace and joy in their spirit.
Terry's racing heroes would be anybody
that can keep balance in their life both racing and living outside of
racing.
Of racing, Terry says, "Not too
much....balance, balance, balance keep your priorities in
line....Christ, Family, Vocation then Racing.
