Roger Lucas
#79
Roger Lucas drives the #79 Late Model
Class car. His home track is Fayetteville Motor Speedway but he
can also be found racing at Wayne County Speedway and Clary Speedway.
He lives in Benson, NC.
Team members helping Roger are:
Butch Baker, Jay Stanley and Kenneth Mangum.
Roger started racing in 1985 in the Late
Model Class at Wake County Speedway because his Dad had always raced
cars when Roger was growing up. When Roger's Dad retired, Roger
decided to start. His first win was in 1990 in the Late Model
Class at County Line Raceway. Career highlights include Track
Championship in 1996 in Late Model and two All Pro Road to Charlotte
wins.
The thrill of racing for Roger is
consistently running in the top 3-5 at local tracks. His most
exciting racing moment was winning the first All Pro Road to Charlotte
race. He's most proud of building his own engines and maintaining
the cars.
Roger's racing hero is David Pearson.
Of racing, Roger says, "It's one of the
best sports out there today. I have won over 200 trophies in
tennis, racquetball, softball and basketball, but racing remains my
favorite sport!".
