The IMCA Nationals at Boone  IA is such a wonder. 700+ race cars, Officials who know what they are doing and how to run a race. Cars from 24 states. Late Models, Sprint Cars. Modifieds, Sports Mods, Hobby Stocks and Stock Cars ran 310 races 3300 laps in 6 nights with NO DUST.  Tech advice from ALL the major Companies in racing.

I usually  come home from Boone and have trouble seeing a local show, because things are  ran so good at the IMCA Nationals at Boone. But Saturday night I got a treat at my home track Charlie Powell’s Florence Motor Speedway. They had the ASA South Late Models. What a treat this series is. Part of it may have been the track, which was re surfaced last year and is really competitive.  Charlie Powell said the track would be running until Dec 16th.  Charlie said "Tell the guys when your home track closes come on down and run with us a couple of times.”  We are gonna have a Santa Clause 200.”  I saw regulars from I- 20 and Sumter, which are closed for the year.

The ASALM series has a bunch of young guys who want to RACE. Cars came from Texas, Kentucky, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and several other states. They run a $5500 Crate engine and are issued the ignition for each race.

Chad Austin in the #11 is running the ASA south now that the Driver Development at Rick Hendricks Motorsports was shut down was there, Keeton Hanks in the 90 cars had the fastest car, and made several nice moves coming thought the field. He could of won the race he had shown some patience. 14-year-old Spencer Taylor in the 46 was most impressive, leading till the backstretch on the final lap. He made several restarts PERFECT to keep different people off of him. Most young kids over drive the car and from lap 80 on he was not the fastest car. He did not make the mistake that most young drivers make and over drive the car. He could not pick it up fast enough to get out of the way, going down the backstretch on the last lap, and got took out.  Spencer Taylor a name you should remember. Colt James drove the smartest race of any driver. This is a guy that is not only fast but knows how to take care of his equipment. If I had a car he would be the driver I would pick. He had a car that could of won but ran out of gas while running second on the last lap. Could it be because of the 101 green white checker laps after about 100 yellow flag laps? James Buescher in the 12 car won, with a move I never thought he would make. He was running second in the points and second would of put him in the points lead. But you have to give him credit he wanted the WIN and got it.
