Jake “The Snake” Crum Honored at UARA-Stars Banquet
Hickory, N.C. (January 12, 2008) – After an up and down 2007 season, Jake “The Snake” Crum walked away from the annual UARA-Stars banquet with an unexpected honor. He was rewarded with the “Most Improved Driver of the Year” award at the banquet held last Saturday night at the Holiday Inn in Hickory, N.C. Jake accepted the award in front of a crowd of more than 200 guests, including all nine of the other top ten drivers in the series.
“I want to thank UARA for this award,” commented the 16 year-old driver. “I really didn’t expect this. This is pretty neat.”
Despite several mechanical failures and on track incidents that plagued the season, Jake managed an eighth place points finish. The streak of bad luck couldn’t overrule his first series win at Coastal Plains Raceway in June or his six top-10 finishes.  Jake was awarded a $1,500 check and a plaque for his points finish.
“It’s a pleasure to be standing up here with Jake, I’m very proud of him and so happy he is part of our series,” commented series promoter, Harold Crook.
Jake will be back this year to run his third full season in the UARA-Stars Late Model Series in 2008 and will be contending for the Championship. He will also be attempting to run select NASCAR Camping World East Series races later in the season.
