Newton, NC... Each year, just before the start of the new racing season,
Hickory Motor Speedway holds a "Rookie Camp" for new drivers to receive
certification to race at the historic .363 mile asphalt oval.  Included in
the "Rookie" designation are drivers who have never raced before, are moving
up to a higher division, or who have never raced at this track before.

The 2008 Rookie Camp will be held on Sunday, March 9th, from 12pm until 4pm.
Drivers should bring their cars and be ready to practice.  Rookies who do
not have their racecars ready yet are still encouraged to attend the Drivers
Meeting to gain valuable insight into the HMS "Rules of the Road".

This Rookie Camp is open to any drivers who plan to compete in our 2008
NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events, including Late Model Stocks,
Limited Late Models, Super Trucks, Pro-4s, Street Stocks, and Hobby Stocks.

HMS Officials will be available to answer questions, pre-Tech your cars,
check safety features, and offer a Drivers Meeting.  Tires and racefuel will
be available.  At the end of the Rookie Camp, HMS Officials will give
clearance for competition, constructive criticism, and offer any assistance.

As this is a work session, only drivers and crew members will be allowed
into the Infield Area.  Cost for the Rookie Camp will be only $10 per person
to offset the expense of insurance, rescue, and workers for the event.  No
cost for fans watching from the Grandstands.

Pit Gates will open at 12 Noon.
