Full House Expected For Caraway Speedway’s Season Opener This Saturday Night


March 12, 2008 – Asheboro, NC  Caraway Speedway will blast into the 2008 season with 100 laps of NASCAR Late Model Stock short track action this Saturday Night.  Competing in the opening event will be former track champion and fan favorite Jason York of Reidsville, known as the Reidsville Rocket, will dial his Chevrolet in at a private test session this Friday.  The field is expected to have several former track champions including High Point’s Travis Swaim, last years champion Randy Benson of Rockingham, Stephen Grimes of Siler City and Brad Brinkley of Sanford.  Brinkley will be driving the second car of Lucas Ransone of Madison until his new Marlowe Chassis arrives.  Robert Tyler of High Point and his Rookie team mate Jason Boaze of Summerfield have tested many times during the off-season and are ready for the 100 lap event.
     Greg Marlowe, two-time track champion, of Troutman will have a host of  Marlowe Chassis in the field including Tommy Lemons Jr of Troy.  Marlowe has been a regular at Caraway during the off-season dialing in several of his clients for the season opener.  Others include Brinkley, Ransone and Rookie Paddy Rodenbeck of  Odessa, FL. 

     Former Late Model Super Truck Track Champion, BJ Mackey of Rock Hill, SC has teamed up with car builder Dave Dunlap of Randleman and engine builder Darrell Poe of Bear Creek.  The trio have tested several times during the off-season and have posted some impressive lap times.  Grimes will be piloting William Barbers Ford, built by Dunlap, competing for his third track championship.  If he is able to do so he will join current Craftsman Truck Series driver Dennis Setzer of Newton and Steve Loftin of Thomasville as three time title holders. 
     Rookie Ryan Wilson of Randleman has moved up from the Late Model Super Truck ranks to compete for his first track championship title.  Kurt Bryant of Thomasville, former Sprint Cup driver, will head up the rookie team.  Other rookies include Rodenbeck and Boaze, plus several more.
     An open practice will be held on Thursday from 5pm until dark.  The Season Opener featuring a 100 Lap NASCAR Late Model Stock event will get under way this Saturday Night at 8pm.  Also on hand will be the Limited Late Models, Mini Stock, Custom Steel Fabricators Super Mini Trucks and U-Cars.  Trackside parking & pits open at 2pm, Grandstands at 6pm and the racing gets underway at 8pm.  Directions:  Take US 220 Bypass to the Spero Road Exit and Follow the signs.  For additional information hit the web at
