The Reidsville Rocket” Blasts To Victory Lane In The Season Opener At Caraway Speedway


March 16, 2008 – Asheboro, NC  Two-Time track Champion Jason York of Reidsville, known as “The Reidsville Rocket” blasted into victory lane after leading every lap of the 100 lap feature.  He also broke the qualifying track record by posting a 16.815 second lap, winning the BUDWEISER pole award.  Defending track champion Randy Benson of Rockingham held off Lucas Ransone of Madison to bring home second.  Ransone, BJ Mackey of Rock Hill, SC, Travis Swaim of High Point, Brad Brinkley of Sanford, Alex Kennedy of Axtec, New Mexico, Dan Moore of Bear Creek, Robert Tyler of Greensboro and Tommy Lemons Jr of Troy rounded out the top ten finishers.

     In the 30 Lap Limited Late Model event defending track champion Brent Weaver of Clemmons took home the win.  Owen Gray of Oak Ridge, Johnny Henderson of Asheboro(Bud Pole Winner), Tony Black of Lexington and Brian Gray of Oak Ridge rounded out the top five finishers.

     In the 15 Lap Mini Stock event Michael Tucker of Thomasville captured the Bud Pole and the win.  Ronnie Kinney of Lexington, Johnny Burke of Winston Salem, John Davis of Lexington and Pnut Vernon of Walkertown rounded out the top five finishers.

     In the 15 lap Custom Steel Fabricators Super Mini Truck Jerry Chriscoe of Randleman captured the win.  Glenn Chriscoe Jr of Randleman, Scottie York of Asheboro (Bud Pole Winner), Sammy Bullins of Asheboro and Steven Collins of Asheboro rounded out the top five finishers.

     In the 10 lap U-Car event Ray Forrest of Winston Salem took home the win.  Greg Cook of Denton, Jimmy Cooper of Asheboro, Keith Owens of Lexington and Allen Vance of Asheboro rounded out the top five finishers.

     Coming up Saturday Night the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modifed Tour will take to the asphalt for 150 laps of open wheeled action.  Also on hand will be the Late Model Super Trucks, Sportsman, Street Stocks and Cab Cars.  Trackside parking & pits open at 1pm, Grandstands at 6pm and the racing gets underway at 8pm.  Directions:  Take US 220 Bypass to the Spero Road Exit and Follow the signs.  For additional information hit the web at
