Fayetteville, NC April 19, 2008- It was another Saturday night of dirt tracking action Southern Style at Fayetteville Motor Speedway (FMS).
The HGR Late Model took the top billing and Wayne Gray Jr. rolled in his first win of the season for W G Landscaping-Dunn-Benson Racing Supply as he ran a strong race from the drop of the green until the checkered wave on Gray to roll into the Dunn-Benson Ford-WKML Winner’s circle.
2008 FMS Point Leader Shaun Harrell of Raeford tried to overhaul a hooked up Gray but never could in his Carolina Concrete Finishers-Midway Mini Storage entry and he settled for a runner-up finish. Dunn’s D J Tyndall placed third for D&K Muffler-Day Lee Chevy. Spring Lake’s speed merchant Scott Neighbors put the Nichols Plumbing-Pro Engine entry in the fourth spot
Defending FMS Late Model champion Willie Milliken of Leland took a fifth home for Corky’s Auto Sales and TWA Concrete and looks for a better weekend this week.
Denton Little had a tough night as woes hit his Monty’s Heating & AC-Skan Electric entry in practice on this evening. Johnny Cain and Robert Turner are looking a top five finish for sure this week at FMS....
The Mid South Auto Recycling Open Wheel show saw Vass veteran Andy Floyd in his Official Used Harleys ride battled most of the night to hold off Travis Yow of Fayetteville in his High Tech Transmission-Moffitt Machine Shop-Roberts Used Cars mount. These guys were battling hard for top honors and get those early season points. Floyd held on to take the victory over Yow at the finish line in this hard fought Open Wheel Mod showdown. Hope Mills’s veteran Hank Edwards placed third for Williams Motorsports & Nursery in Ash, NC.
Gray’s Creek hotshoe Timmy Blackwell in his debut for Granger Racing in Tabor City posted a fourth place evening. 18 year old Jordan Taylor of Fayetteville may have run his best race in some time as he took fifth place for BTO-AMP Drinks-VP Race Fuels on this Saturday night.
Fayetteville’s Eric Menscer had another tough go in his Star Leasing entry and Matt Valiquette, Carlos Jaramillo, AJ Belanger along with Jason Caulkins are looking a strong showing this Saturday at FMS..
The Moffitt Machine Shop Super Street action again saw Glenn “Fireball’ Howard of Wade chalk up another victory and that is four this year as he leads the points chase entering this week event in his Cape Fear Landscaping-Jerry’s Bumper Sales-ESPN 1230 Chevy. Stedman hard charger Adam Norris chased Howard to the checkers on this evening. Roy Johnson turned in a good finish as he ran third with Jeremy Johnson fourth for J&J Racing. Hard Charging Richard Martinez roared to a fifth place night for AAA Towing-Reeves Electric-High Tech Transmission in his Camaro.
It was good to see a hard charging Ricky Bledsole get out of his Chevy after his tough spill in turn one and he’ll be ready to rolls again this week.
The Auto Plus U-Cars showdown on this evening saw defending champion Eddie Longhany capture top honors as his Auto Plus machine outran Fayetteville’s Mike Parker Jr. in his Parker’s Service Center entry. David” Cowboy” Nelson placed third followed by upstart Tyler Payne fourth and fifth spot went to Lighting Coburn.. Fayetteville Motor Speedway returns to action again this Saturday night with a $1,500 to win Late Model Showdown plus all regular classes in action. Gates open at 5 PM, catch all the dirt track excitement on the clay oval April 26 at FMS.
