Jim Mehmen drives the #2M IMCA Stock Car.  He lives in Cedar Falls, IA.  His home track is Independence Motor Speedway.

He started racing in 1987 in the Enduro Bomber Class at Marshalltown Speedway because a bunch of guys got together and decided they could put some things together and race the entry level class......Jim ended up the driver.  His first win was in 1990 in the Hobby Stock Class at Benton County Speedway.

The thrill of racing for Jim is the competitiveness of the sport and the camaraderie of the drivers he races with.  They're like another family.  His most exciting racing moment was when he was leading the A Feature on lap #1 and spun out.....then starting dead last out of 25 cars and driving back to the 2nd spot........what a great night!  He's most proud of his family's support and great people that help you at the track when your broke or busted up.  The make sure they help you in any way to get you back on the track.

Jeff Gordon, Greg  Kastli, and Jeff Aikey are Jim's racing heroes.

Of racing, Jim says, "This sport is many hours of dedication of friends and family and it's not just taking the windows out and throwing on a helmet.  It's more than that...try it, you'll like it!".
