Tom Charles drives the #81 Modified Class car.  He lives in Bonner Springs, KS.  His home track is Lakeside Speedway (KCK) but he can also be found racing at Central Missouri Speedway.

He started racing in 1978 in the Street Stock Class at Riverside, MO. after seeing his Dad and uncle race in the '60's and knew he would someday.  His first win was in 1981 in the Street Stock at Topeka Raceway.  Career highlights include:  325 Feature wins to date, 27 Track Championships (5 in 1995), 2nd in IMCA National Points in 1990 and drove Late Models and Modifieds to dual wins many times.

The thrill of racing for Tom is building cars, finding ways to go faster, winning and being with friends and family.  His most exciting racing moment was winning his 300th Feature at his home track in the town he grew up in (which is now gone due to the flood of 1993) Lakeside Speedway, KCK.  He's most proud of his 29th year of marriage, 27 years of racing....that is amazing!  Watching and racing with his son and watching his grandson race Karts.

His grandson is Tom's racing hero.

Of racing, Tom says, "It is what you make it...it has high high's and low low's.  You can learn a lot about life through racing......pay attention!".
