Keith Rocco to Drive in 5 Different Divisions @ Waterford’s 2013 Blastoff Weekend

NASCAR Whelen All-American Series 2010 Champ Keith Rocco will kick off his 2013 racing season at Waterford Speedbowl in the Budwieser Blastoff this Weekend April 5, 6 & 7 driving in 5 different divisions.

Rocco will have to qualify in all 5 divisions on Saturday afternoon. Then Rocco will begin in his quest to win 5 feature events in 2 days.

Rocco has 55 career wins in 5 different divisions at Waterford and 3 track Championships. Keith won back to back Championships in the SK Modifieds in 2010 & 2011 seasons and a Street Stock Championship in 2004.

Rocco, 27, of Wallingford, Conn., the 2010 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion, finished second to Lee Pulliam in the 2012 national point race. It marked the fourth consecutive year Rocco placed first or second in national standings. Since the current series format was introduced in 2007, Rocco stands alone in never finishing outside the top four in national ranking.

Rocco’s busy weekly pavement SK Modified division schedule includes a trio of Connecticut short tracks: Thursdays at Thompson International Speedway, Fridays at Stafford Motor Speedway and Saturdays at Waterford Speedbowl.

Running that circuit during the past six years, Rocco has amassed 91 feature wins in 245 starts for a winning percentage of .371. That record helped generate six NASCAR SK Modified track championships, five consecutive state titles and the 2010 national championship. Rocco also won Rookie of the Year on the WMT in 2012.

Rocco has 42 career SK Modified wins at the Speedbowl, so he knows how to get it done.

After qualifying Rocco will run his first feature event on Saturday afternoon in the NEMA Lites. The NEMA Lites will run a 25 lap feature event. Then it will be on to the Legend car 20 lap feature event.

On Sunday Rocco will start the day off running in the second feature of the day. The Whelen All American Series SK Modified 63 lap feature. Rocco will compete in the SK Modified division weekly at the Speedbowl. Two events later Keith will run in the Late Model 50 lap feature event. Keith will also run the Late Models weekly at the Speedbowl.

Rocco will finish the day running in the MRS Tour Type Modified 100 lap event in the 68 Modified. The MRS race will be loaded as over 30 Modifieds will attempt to qualify for the 24 starting spots.
