Some notes from Wednesdays JDM III:

Chuck Hossfeld #22 is back and ready for action tonight at New Smyrna Speedway. His second place finish last night was disallowed after tech inspection. Hossfeld is focused on getting his car set up for the 35 lap feature later tonight.
"We came back today and we were fastest in practice - my goal is to set fast time for the race and win."
Hossfeld really does not have anything to prove but he is determined to make a point- that the disputed gear did not make a difference with his on track performance.”

Andy Seuss #70
After crossing the line third last night at New Smyrna Speedway, Seuss left the track with a second place finish, the Hampstead, NH driver gaining a position after Hossfeld's disallowance.

"The car was turning really well, it was a little too free for a 76 lap race so I kind of hung back and saved my tires the best I could. I was impressed with the pace Woody put down so it's going to be tough to beat but we'll tighten the car up a little bit for tonight and hopefully we can be that much better," Seuss adding, "Last night will help us set up for tomorrow night."

Seuss was the 2006 World Series of Asphalt Racing champion but has yet to win a feature at the half mile banked oval. "We've had a lot of seconds and a lot of thirds, but we're still trying to get that win."

Patrick Emerling #07
Making the trip from Orchard Park, NY, Patrick Emerling is making the most of 2013 Speedweeks.: New Smynra Speedway for two nights, Daytona for the UNOH Battle at the Beach finishing 5th and now back to New Smyrna to conclude his Florida run.

"This is our fourth year at New Smyrna- we ran an SK the first year then a mod the last three. The track here is a lot of fun to drive on, it's fast. The racing is challenging but you can race and passing? It's hard to pass but you can pass."

The time spent at the half-mile banked oval, Emerling uses the word 'consistent' with his runs. "Last year I had two seconds, a third and a fourth- I never quite get a win. Just about every single race was a top five." His first time at NSS with the Chassis Dynamic car and this team, Patrick is looking forward to the remaining nights at the World Series of Asphalt Racing. "The 76 lapper was the first chance we had to go on a long run- to do a full 76 lap on one set of tires. Now we can base some of our future notes off what happened. It helps us for the 100 lap event tomorrow night since you can't tell what your tires are going to do in a 35 lap feature at lap 50." Emerling is looking forward to again taking on the full NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour schedule in his Emerling Chevrolet, Hitchcock Pool Water, Western Snow Plow sponsored modified.

Cole Powell #73
There will be a new face on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour for 2013. Cole Powell who ran the UNOH Battle of the Beach finishing 8th, came to New Smyrna Speedway to finish out Speedweeks.
A mechanical issue may have kept the driver from Mt. Bridges Ontario Canada from making any laps on the speedway but it didn't affect his plans for the approaching season.

"We did a lot of crate racing- late models. We were always late model, full body guys and started looking for the next step - either a super late model or a modified. We figured the modified would be the best bang for the buck because of NASCAR, some TV and you get to go on to some cool tracks like Bristol and New Hampshire. Then we ended up getting a Super anyway- now we have the best of both worlds- so that's kind of how we got into this." Competing in a handful of races last year, Powell will be making the haul, about 10 hours, to Thompson for the Icebreaker.

Jimmy Zacharias #80
"Last night we actually did pretty good, put on a new set of tires, time trialed 7th, we had a lot of fuel in it so the car was bottoming out a little bit, the handling wasn't just right and by the time the fuel burned off we were a lap down. Fortunately we got the free pass, restarted 14th, cleared the lap cars and with 5 to go we were running 6th. Silk and Emerling were ahead of me, I caught up to them and passed Silk for fifth at the finish. Once we got through tech, we were fourth."

Zacharias may not remember exactly how many years he has been coming to New Smyrna Speedway with his dad, "I've been coming here since I was 13? 14?" Turning 22 years old in a couple of months Zacharias recalls it was 2006 when he "seriously ran here," starting with an SK. Zacharias is looking to add a 'W' before he leaves New Smyrna. Working tirelessly on his WRC Inc sponsored modified, Zacharias has three more chances to make a run for victory lane.

Danny Watts  #82
Motor issues were discovered this afternoon in the 82 modified run by Danny Watts. A broken super damper make keep Watts from competing tonight. The team has been searching to replace the part, but no luck yet.

The 73 of Cole Powell will not be racing for the rest of the Series . The Pole team has an issue with tech team here at NSS. The engine was sealed by NASCAR  at The Battle at the Beach. NSS Tech wants to unseal the motor to check it. The team says it was sealed by NASCAR and doesn’t feel it is necessary to have it checked again since this is now a NASCAR track. The Engine and Carburetor were checked and sealed by NASCAR WMT Officials.  Hnnnnnnn.

The Race: Another Great Race
