113 race cars signed into the pit area for opening night at Riverhead Raceway. Led by 33 Legend Cars, but the story of the night was the Tour Type NASCAR Modifieds.

The 66 of Defending Track Champion Shawn Solomito of Islip, NY led every lap from his pole starting position in route to 2 - 30 lap victories for NASCAR national weekly points on opening night at the famed Riverhead Raceway.

19 Modifieds took to the track for time trials with Shawns brother Timmy Solomito also from Islip, NY taking the pole with a time of 11.761 in Wayne Andersons #15 Eastport Feeds Chevy.

The top 8 Modifieds redrew for positions 1 thru 8 with Shawn Solomito picking the pole and the 14 of John Beatty from picking second starting position. Fastest qualifier Timmy Solomito picked position #7.

At the drop of the green Shawn battled Beatty for the top spot with Shawn taking over that top spot. Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, NY driving the Kenny Massa 51took over 2nd place from Beatty and began to pressure Solomito for a few laps. After a caution Beatty took back 2nd from Bonsignore and the 15 of Timmy Solomito worked his way to 4th by lap 9.

A lap 25 restart had Bonsignore moving back to 2nd, but that was short lived as mechanical failure ended Bonsignores night. 17 Modifieds were still on the track at the end of the first 30 laps.

At the end of the first 30 lap segment it was 1. 66 Shawn Solomito, 2. 14 John Beatty, 3. 98x Dave Brigati of Calverton, NY, 4. 15 Timmy Solomito, 5. 58 Eric Goodale, 6. 00 Kevin Orlando of Calverton, NY, 7. 0 Tommy Rodgers Jr. of Patchogue, NY, 8. 20 Ryen Preece of Berlin, CT, 9. 96 Howie Brodie ofEast Islip, NY, 10. 26 David Roys of Coram, NY

The second 30 lap segment started off the same way as the first 30 lap segment with Shawn Solomito holding off John Beatty to lead all 30 laps again. The 15 of Timmy Solomito running in 4th and the 0 of Tommy Rogers Jr. running in 5th made contact going into turn 1 and crashed with the 15 of T. Solonito against the wall and being done for the night. The 0 of Rogers would return to action. The 58 of Goodale tried the high and the low side to get by Brigati but had to settle for 3rd. A very good run for Goodale. Brigati took home 2nd. Preece bounced back from a disappointing qualifying run to finish 4th after starting 12th. 5th went to Howie Brodie.
