This week's Rockin' Race Report combines three of the lords greatest
gifts to any race fan, heavy metal music, super Late Model Racing, and
The Utica Rome Speedway in Vernon, New York. I was lucky enough to see
history being made and some pretty good racing all in one night. For the

This week’s soundtrack for the Rocker' comes from Southern Rap-Metal
Stuck Mojo and their song "Southern Pride"...
This event had a noted southern twang to
it, as the overwhelming majority of the drivers on this tour hail from
the other side of the Mason-Dixon Line.
Listening to them speak as they all were being interviewed, reminded
me of the early NASCAR Winston Cup era events in the 1980's that we
would watch on TV as kids. It was unfiltered, unrefined, and at the same
time, very respectful and genuine.
Beyond the pronounced southern draw, these drivers were some of the most
approachable stars you will ever meet. For the thousands of feautre
wins, dozens and dozens of track titles, numerous big money event wins
and resumes literally, thousands of miles long, this accomplished group
of racing professionals carried themselves in a way that makes you want
that tour to make this New York state swing a yearly thing. From the
biggest names, to the the rookie of the year candidates on this tour,
one thing stuck out to me in a big way, these guys knew what makes this
sport go. The fans...
