Midwest Racing Roundup
Indianapolis.IN By Tom Botos 2-1-09
Hello again racefans I had the pleasure of
going to the Indy Circle Track Racing Expo at the Indiana
State Fairgrounds on Sunday January 31st and it was totally
awesome I had a great time meeting David Sink whom is the
Anderson Speedway Track Photographer and also met Charlie
Hargraves both are founders of the new International
Outlaw figure 8 Series based here in Indiana but it is
definitely a MIdwest Racing Series to keep an eye on in
2009. This upstart series has released its 2009 Racing
Schedule and soon will be unveiling there own website which
will help better promote the series as a whole.Charlie had
his #74 Outlaw Late Model Figure 8 car on display which
caught many racefan's attention and many drivers came up and
said they have never seen anything like it! I will attach a
pic of the car to this story so fans can see what these
"wild wedge car" machines look like.
Steve Stacy an asphalt late model racer from
Plymouth Speedway and Tom Smith a promoter at Plymouth (IN)
Speedway looked at Charlie Hargraves' Car and stated that
they are converting a dirt late model over to an Outlaw Late
Model Figure 8 Car to race at least Plymouth Speedway during
the 2009 Racing Season!
Currently there are 3 races at Anderson
Speedway and 3 races at Plymouth Speedway on the IOFS 2009
Schedule.I have emailed Midvale (OH) Speedway and almost
every figure 8 course enabled speedway in Michigan for
possible dates to be added to the IOFS Schedule in 2010!
I have volunteered to help promote the IOFS
by calling and emailing racetracks which is alot of fun!It
is something I thought I would never do in my lifetime!I am
also helpng to organize the IOFS Racing Fan Club which is
open to anyone that loves figure 8 racing as much as I
do!For more information about the IOFS or the IOFS Fan Club
go to
http://www.race8.com or

I also bought 4 photographs of the famed
Jungle Park Speedway near Rockville,Indiana that I will
frame and hang up on my wall! One section still remains of
the covered gtrndstands and most of the track is still
visible with some areas still covered with asphalt.
I also bought a photograph of the the dirt
track that was in Greenview,Indiana.I love racing history
and tracks that have covered grandstands really catch my eye
and interest me for some reason. If you have stories or pics
from the track that was in greenview,Indiana please email
them to
indybear37@yahoo.com.
The Indy Cicle Track Racing Expo track feud
was a game of buzzers and questions and answering before the
time limit runs out! Sprint and Midget car drivers like
Billy Puterbaugh Jt.,John Stanbrough,Steve Chassey,Steve
Stapp, and Tracy Hines answered questions trying to win the
bags of candy that someone said were left over from
Halloween!
Winchester Speedway and the CRA Super
Series officials had 2009 schedules released and printed
on paper.Vermillion County Speedway and Lawrenceburg
Speedways have re;eased there 2009 Racing Season Schedules.I
am so full of cabin fever its not funny!!! If you have any
news, notes, comments or stories send them to
indybear37@yahoo.com Gotta Go See You At The Races
