Hello Racefans, Anderson (IN)
Speedway got there races in Saturday
Night with Goshen,Indiana's Charlie
Hanna picking up the win in the CRA
Sportsman 75 lap feature. I remember
watching Charlie Hanna race at New Paris
(IN) Speedway in an Outlaw Super Late
model a few years back. He may have been
there the few nights that I went to
Plymouth (IN) Speedway for there races
but I cannot remember. Lord knows I
slept since then! The CRA Sportsman had
22 cars start the 75 lap event where #28
Justin Alsip from Germantown,Ohio hit
the turn 1 water barrier wall. Justin
was unhurt ,I remember #31 Bobby Fields
hitting that wall one night in an Outlaw
Super Late Model and this was before
they installed the water barrels. I
wouldnt want to be in any car with the
"throttle sticking" which could send you
into that relentless undaunting wall!
Overall the racing Saturday
Night was pretty good with #31 Ron
Phipps winning his first ever feature in
the FWD Oval Division. The #0 Of Joe
Beaver won the Street Stock Feature with
his awesome green and black painted
ride. I have seen Joe Beaver compete in
just about every type of car or division
that has ever raced at Anderson
Speedway. I am wondering if his daughter
Katie Jackson is still racing? Maybe
Katie is concentrating on running just
the CRA Street Stock Touring Series? She
has not been at Anderson for the past
few races.I guess I must do more
research to find out the scoop on Katie.
I have been listening to
some Auto Racing Radio Shows simulcasted
online and on there respective local
radio stations. I have called into the
past two weeks into "Michigan Race Talk"
a Racing Talk Show from Flint,Michigan
on AM 1470 "Unforgettable WFNT" The show
is from 7 to 9PM On Wednesday Nights. It
is simulcasted on Streaming Internet
Radio at this link
http://www.michiganracetalk.com/ on
the internet. Michigan Race Talk is
hosted by two racetrack announcers Larry
Loynes and "Big Ed" Inloes. Both Larry
and Ed seem to know alot about Auto City
Speedway in Clio,Michigan. Auto City
Speedway is a track on my "wishlist" of
Miichigan tracks that I have not been to
yet.Racefans and drivers may call into
Michigan Race Talk at 1-866-680-1470. If
you would like to be on Michigan Race
Talk as a guest you may email Verwayne
Greenhoe at
bmoc66@gmail.com. I felt compelled
to call in to this show since so many
talented Michiana drivers race in our
Tristate area of Indiana,Ohio,and
Michigan in the SuperPro Series and in
the Main Event Racing Series as well as
the CRA Super Series.
Another great Racing Show
on the internet is "Racing World With
Dwight Allen" eminating from
Findlay,Ohio on AM 1330 WFIN and on the
streaming internet at
http://www.wfin.com/Racing_World/index.asp .
Racing World covers everything in racing
from go carts all the way up to Nascar
Sprint Cup. Racing World has segments
each week on Attica (OH) Raceway Park
with Track Promoter Rex Lejune. Eldora
(OH) Speedway Track Promoter Larry Kemp
calls in a segment on Eldora Speedway.
There is also a segment on Fremont (OH)
Speedway each week as well. Racing World
has archived radio shows at the link I
mentioned previously as well. I am going
to do an internet Google Search and see
if I can find more radio shows like
these two as I feel this is the future
of our sport! Maybe in next week's
edition of my column I will have found
some more radio shows so stay tuned.
Congratulations are in
order as my hero Mike Jewell won the
Super Late Model Feature at Brownstown
(IN) Speedway! Don O'Neal won the Super
Late Model Feature at Florence (KY)
Speedway. Frank Heckenast Jr. won the
Super Late Model Feature at Kamp (IN)
Motor Speedway.
To me there is nothing
better than being a Racewriter and
Columnist as this has been a whale of a
learning experience for me. I am still
learning as I go as "The New Guy On The
Block". I want the Midwestern Area of
racing to be covered as best as I can
and I hope I am doing my part here
learning as I go day by day! Email any
news,notes,or comments to
indybear37@yahoo.com. Gotta Go See
Ya At The Races!
