Hello racefans, it was a great weekend of racing as I went to Anderson (IN) Speedway Friday Night for the Thundercar Enduro 200 in which the #01 of Johnny Magee won with Rod Phipps finishing second. Ron was the only other car on the lead lap. Johnny Magee has shown he is a master on long endurance (enduro) type races as he would dive through lapped traffic unscathed to win the $3,000 dollar top prize Saturday Night At Anderson Speedway.The #9N of Nick Warner finished in third place as he battled with Rod Phipps all evening long. #2 of Andy keller won the FWD Figure 8 Feature Saturday Night as he won in dominating style.

Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway opens this Saturday May 2nd with the weekly program of Late Models,Thundercars, and Hornets. I am looking forward to the 2009  racing season at Mt. Lawn Speedway and hope they can continue with the great racing and double file restarts that they had in 2008! Mt. Lawn Speedway regulars Eddie Claborn and Kevin Claborn both competed in Anderson Speedway's Thundercar Enduro 200 as well as the #20 of Straugh,Indiana's Tony Stewart and last but not least, 2008 Mt. Lawn Speedway Late Model Track Champion Eric Evans also had a Thunder in the Thundercar 200.

I am going to try a new venture as I talk with  and interview drivers the rest of the season as I am going to try selling MAARN News in the pit areas and maybe a few in the grandstand areas. Many drivers last season indicated that they do not have time to walk around to the main spectator area to buy copies of MAARN,so I am going to try relieving that problem in 2009!

Saturday night April 25th I went to Brownstown (IN) Speedway for a regular show of Crate Late models,UMP Pure Stocks,UMP Modifieds,Bombers ,and Hornets as the #49 of Jeremy Hines won the Indiana Late Model Series Crate Late Model Feature. The #14 of Steven Godsey came home in second using the high groove at Brownstown. Steven Godsey was last weeks ILMS Crate Late Model Feature winner.

Coming Saturday May 2nd at Anderson (IN) Speedway is the Glen Niebel Classic 100 for USAC Sprints. The FWD Oval and Figure 8 Divisions will also compete Saturday Night.

I wanted to talk about having united track rules. It appears to me that at all these UMP Modified tracks, the car construction rules are the same but I feel there should be uniform track rules on racing procedures when handling cars that stop on the racetrack during the races. I thought that most tracks had the rule that if you stop on the racetrack for any reason during the green flag "you go to the tail" What I have seen though is each track is different when handling both the "spinner" and the "spinee" I feel that a straight rule applied that if any car stops during the green then that car goes to the tail. This way a track cannot be named or labeled as playing favorites! I realize it is rough seeing two of your favorite drivers put on the tail because they tangle and both spin with two laps to go in a race! I guess you could label this as "just a part of racing" but I think tracks should never have to make a judgement call either way in an on track incident. I guess it just depends on how you look at this dilemma when drivers are relegated to the tail for no wrong doing. I would not want the job of a scorer to decide who gets there spot back? Or do they both go to the tail? You cannot please everyone no matter what decision you make!

Coming Sunday May 3rd will be the Season Opening Event for the the newly formed IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series at Kentucky Motor Speedway in whitesville,Kentucky! I hope the weather is favorable for this Indianapolis based touring series to get there first Series Event completed! Veteran drivers Rodney Sizemore and Rich Fenwick are scheduled to compete Sunday May 3rd in the scheduled 50 Lap Feature, plus heat race prreliminary events also are scheduled. To find out more information about the IOFS Series log on to http://www.iofsracing.com/.

Saturday,May 2nd also plays host to the first ever Main Event Racing Series event at Angola (IN) Speedway. Many tri-state area Outlaw Late Model drivers are scheduled to compete from MIchigan,Ohio,Indiana, and possibly a few from illinois. Angola has slimmed down there 2009 Season Schedule down to just ten special event races. I wish Angols (IN) Speedway the best and I hope they have a successful 2009 racing season.Any news, notes,or comments send to indybear37@yahoo.com Gotta Go See You  At The Races!
