Hello Racefans, were in the midst of a huge month of racing here in the month of May with the Granddaddy of them all the Indianapolis 500 Mile Race on Memorial Day Weekend. Just about all the weekly short tracks here in Indiana are now open for the 2009 racing season. Anderson (IN) Speedway is having there Spring Championship Races this Saturday May 16th. Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway is having there Spring Family Appreciation Night with racefans general admission being only $5.00!
I was not aware that L.J. Lines has traveled in the past to race at Shadybowl and Kilkare Speedways. I think Joe Beaver another Anderson Speedway  veteran has raced at these two tracks as well? L.J. lines won the Late Model Feature last week at Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway.
Coming May 22nd and May23rd is the National Auto Racing Memorabilia Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is one of,if not the biggest memorabilia show in the United States. This event is a definite bonus for diehard racefans waiting for the Indianapolis 500.
Plymouth (IN) Speedway opens Saturday May 16th as they run Late Models,Sportsman,Street Stocks,Mini Stocks, and FWD cars.Plymouth Speedway has a very diverse schedule thsi year offering something for everyone. I am going to try to take in the three IOFS Outlaw Figure 8 Races at Plymouth Speedway this year.
About 20 cars are entered for the opening night of the IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series at Kentucky Motor Speedway. They have postponed this evemt twice now and IOFS Officials hope to get the race in this weekend. This is also opening night for the regular divisions at Kentucky Motor Speedway. I am going to talk to the promoter this weekend and see if he will send there track results into MAARN News and other racing websites.
Winchester (IN) Speedway opens there season Sunday May17th with CRA Super Series Late Models,USAC Sprints, and CRA Street Stocks. Winchester has been rained out once already this season.
There is another radio show to check out Every Wednesday Night at 6-7 PM it is called The Last Lap with Brian Liskai. The Last Lap focuses on Attica (OH) Speedway and Fremont (OH) Speedway and they have guests on the show at times as well. to listen to this show live on the internet go to
I agree it seems that our dirt tracks get better car counts each week than the asphalt tracks. Anderson Speedways car counts so far this season have been better than Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedways both are running Saturday Nights. In my opinion if you build a UMP Modified  you have many different tracks running them which gives you more choices to where you want to race your modified. If i built an asphalt legal car the chances are great that my car will only be legal at one track unless I run the CRA Racing Series. Any news, notes,or comments send them to Gotta go see you at the Races!
