WOW! What an awesome racing weekend!
Indianapolis,IN by Tom Botos 5-25-09
Happy Memorial Day racefans! I cannot think of
any better way to celebrate than catching some great
side by side paint swapping racing! I went to two tracks
that I have not been to since I think since 1997. In
1997 I went hogwild and went to many different tracks
most I had read about in MAARN News and MARC Times.
Friday night was the Jim Blount Memorial at
Plymouth (IN) Speedway which had over 70 cars compete
while honoring the famous Jim Blount father of Bobby
Blount. Tyler Roarig won the Late Model Feature in a
slugfest battle back and forth with Scott Ross and Shane
Sanders. My favorite driver from Plymouth,Indiana Brian
Ross pulled out of the Late Model feature early and I am
not sure why.
Plymouth (IN) Speedway is pretty neat little 3/8
mile bullring with a figure 8 course inside it. I am
looking forward to the IOFS International Outlaw Figure
8 Series Late model race at Plymouth on Saturday June
13th. Plmouth Speedway is running the CRA Sportsman
Series this Saturday May 30th giving the late models
the night off. The CRA Sportsman put on a whale of a
show and I definitely would not mind seeing it.
New Paris (IN) Speedway is hosting $20.00 a
carload night with a regular show of Late Models,Street
Stocks,Mini Stocks,Pure Stocks,and spectator races.New
Paris should have a good field of Late models with
Plymouth not running Late models in lieu of the CRA
Sportsman.
Anderson (IN) Speedway is running the CRA Street
Stocks in a wild 75 Lap slugfest.Anderson will also have
the Figure 8s,Thundercars,Legends,Thunder Roadsters,and
FWD Oval Division.
Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway is having there Spring
Championships with Late
Models,Thundercars,Hornets,Fastcarts and Mini Cups.
A few weekends ago I went to Whitesville,KY for
the IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series season
opener event. I met Harold Adams there he is a racefan
that goes to the Sportsdrome (IN) Speedway every week.
Harold does an outstanding job covering the races as a
reporter for
www.racestarpublications.com. I have not been to the
Sportsdrome in many years but Harold makes you feel like
you were there with his race results. If you ever get a
chance to go to the Sportsdrome Speedway you will see
good car counts and a growing fan base which is crucial
to survive in the state of our economy.Wherever you live
please take a carloand of friends and family to the
races!!! Gotta go see you at the
races!
