Hello racefans! This week I went to the UMP Summernationals race at Brownstown (IN) Speedway and I had a great time with a stellar field of Late models on hand and they put on a whale of a show with Jeep VanWormer winning the  opening race of the 2009 UMP Summernationals Hell Tour. Terry Casey really impressed me in the heat races battling with Dennis Erb and Billy Moyer. Moyer,Casey and Erb put on a barnburner of a 1st heat race slicing and dicing going three wide in the 1st heat race with Moyer winning followed by Casey and Erb!
The Late Model Feature at Brownstown was very competitive with lots of side by side racing. This was my 1st ever summernationals race attending on the opening night of the tour. Brownstown Speedway pulled in 43 UMP Late Models Thursday Night to do battle.
Billy Moyer Jr. won the 2nd night of the UMP Summernationals Tour at Kankakee County (IL) Speedway.Eric Smith won the 3rd event Saturday Night at Kamp (IN) Speedway. So far the car counts have been pretty good at each Summernationals event. I wish I had the rest of the week off and a full wallet to "do the entire tour".
Charlie Hargraves won the innaugural and 1st ever Outlaw Late Model Figure Eight race at Plymouth (IN) Speedway Saturday Night June 13th. The crowd was simply amazed and were jubilant all evening long as the track announcer informed the very good crowd that they were witnesses to auto racing history in the making at Plymouth Speedway! There are two more IOFS racing events this season at Plymouth Speedway if you get a chance please check them out! The next event on the IOFS 2009 schedule will be at Anderson (IN) Speedway on Friday,July 3rd.
I really hope these past two IOFS events trigger a rebirth of Outlaw Figure Eight racing here in the midwest. The IOFS have had really good car counts considering most of them tow long distances from the homebase of Indianapolis,IN. The racefans at both Kentucky Motor Speedway in Whitesville,KY and at Plymouth (IN) Speedway were off the hook in supporting us at each race! I hope winning over the Michiana racefans will urge Michiana and Kentucky drivers to build Outlaw Figure Eight cars this coming winter which will mean better car counts and more exciting races added to the schedule. For more information on the IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series go to .
Jason Thompson won the CRA Street Stock 75 at Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway Saturday Night June 13th. It looks like they had 22 cars in attendance. I was really torn as I wanted to see this CRA Street Stock race as well as the Thundercar 200 Enduro at Anderson (IN) Speedway. Any news, notes,or comments please send to Gotta go see you at the Races!
