Hello racefans it has been another fun weekend of
racing! Friday night I was at Twin Cities (IN) Raceway Park for
the O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series with almost 25 late
models on hand to do battle for $5,000 to win. Duane Chamberlain
won the 50 lap feature over Chub Frank. Greg Roberts won the UMP
Super Stock feature, and Matt Bex won his first ever UMP Modified
feature at TCRP.
Saturday Night I went to Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway for the
39th Annual Raintree 100 for Late Models. Kevin Clayborn won his
first ever raintree 100 in front of a good crowd of devoted fans
who withstood a brief rain shower to start the evening. The
racing at Mt. Lawn was awesome all night long as there were
plenty of spins and crashes that kept the track cleanup crew
very busy from a long hard night of racing.Several brand new
cars were brought out with fresh paint jobs and new bodies with
no dents and "scrapes". Tony Stewart from Straughn,Indiana won
his first ever Thundercar feature Saturday night. Tony told me
before qualifying that he and his family were going to Walt
Disney World for a family vacation very soon. I somehow doubt
the way his car was running that he will skip racing the next
few weeks to go to the amusement park. We will just have to wait
and see if this rejuvinates his racing team. Tony Stewart said
he has been racing on an off for about 10 years at Mt. Lawn (IN)
Speedway.Kyle Evans won the Hornet feature that was a major
crashfest to say the least. One thing is for sure there is
always plenty of action at Mt. Lawn Speedway with there
doublefile restarts in every race!
Check out an awesome website that I frequent quite a
bit. To watch races at home that are streaming live from several
Michigan tracks log on to
www.racesontheweb.com . Verwayne Greenhoe and Lee Wonnacott
are looking for sponsors to offset the cost of this awesome
website where you can watch races 24/7 anytime day or night!
Racefans can see races from tracks like Crystal (MI)
Speedway,Thunderbird (MI) Speedway,Merritt (MI) Speedway,and
Kokomo (IN) Speedway! There is a racing archive where you can
watch past races and catch "The Racing Show with George Keen
which airs live on Monday Nites at 7pm. The Racing Show is a
live TV show with special guests and racing news each and every
week! I hope that races on the web can find sponsorship to stay
on the air instead of having to become pay per view. The website
www.racesontheweb.com
is very cutting edge offering our weekly short track racing for
racefans overseas and for fans that cannot get to the racetrack
each week. If you would like to sponsor
www.racesontheweb.com
there is a link on that website to email Verwayne Greenhoe and
Lee Wonnacott.
Coming this week is a regular show of Late
Models,Thundercars, and Hornets at Mt. Lawn (IN)
Speedway.Anderson (IN) Speedway has a 200 Lap Midget race for
USAC National Midgets along with Kenyon Midgets. The Founders
Day 100 for Thundercars has been postponed until Saturday August
1st at Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway.I cannot wait for the Redbud 300
for CRA Super Series Late Models on Monday July 27th at
Anderson! Harold Fair and Kyle Busch are scheduled to race in
the 300 lapper! The Redbud 300 celebrates all the history the
fame that the old ASA series brought to Anderson Speedway. I
wish Bob Senneker,MIke Eddy,Mark Martin,Dick Trickle,and Butch
Miller could all come back for one more slugfest race off the
high banks at Anderson Speedway! One can only "dream" I guess
right??
I have worked very hard this season to get more tracks
in the midwest to send in there results to MAARN News and the
websites that support my racing column here. Shadyhill (IN)
Speedway in Medaryville,Indiana are now send me there results
each week. Shadyhill is a 1/4 mile dirt bullring with a weekly
show of UMP Modifieds,Pure Streets,Super Streets,Barefoots,and
I-Mods which are similar to UMP Modifieds. I hope that MAARN can
print the results each week from Shadyhill (IN) Speedway. I am
here to support weekly local short track racing and I think all
tracks and local drivers deserve more recognition than they are
getting!
