Happy Fourth of July Racefans if I did not
mention it in last week's article! Eddie VanMeter
won the IOFS International Outlaw Figure Eight
Series 50 Lap Feature at Anderson (IN) Speedway
Friday Night July 3rd. Jeff Shackelford started on
the tail after he suffered mechanical issues with
his #2 Outlaw Late Model.Jeff Shackelford drove his
team #1 car that was driven in the heat race by Ben
Tunny. Eddie VanMeter dominated the race as Jeff
Shackelford came from the tail to finish 2nd! Coming
this Saturday Night July 11th the IOFS Series will
be at Plymouth (IN) Speedway for another round of
Michiana figure eight action! For detailed
information on this race please go to
http://www.iofsracing.com/ .
As far as I know almost all of the
midwestern area tracks were rained out Saturday
Night July 4th as most of the Indiana tracks all
canceled there races early on so that fans and
drivers could make other July 4th plans. I was
miserable Saturday night as it rained all day and
all night. I ended up going to the last Drive-IN
Movie Theater here in Indianapolis. It was nice to
go to the Drive-IN but I wanted to be at the races
and I realized just how many drivers, fans, and
crewman didnt get to race Saturday Night. I guess
were all in the same boat when mother nature decides
to dump on us!
Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway postponed there 39th
Annual Raintree 100 for Late Models until Saturday
July 11th. Thundercars and Hornets will be the
support classes. Since I am an IOFS Series official
I may have to miss the Raintree 100 now. I hope
everyone else enjoys that race it should be a real
dogfight as intense as the Mt. Lawn Late Models have
been running as of late! For detailed information go
to
www.mtlawn.com.
Rob Allman won the Thundercar Feature Friday
Night at Anderson (IN) Speedway. Rob has two cars
including a CRA Street Stock.Rob Allman has
competed all season long in both of these cars. I
would like to interview him I will see what I can do
about that next time I see Rob in the pit area at
Anderson. Randy Hoppes also had two cars as he has a
Thundercar and also a FWD car that he had a For Sale
sign on at Mt. Lawn Speedway. I believe he may have
sold that car as well I will have to investigate
this a bit further. It has to be very time consuming
trying to keep two cars up each week!
Plymouth (IN) Speedway has the CRA Super
Series 200 on Sunday July 12th. The CRA Street
Stocks are also competing for $750 to win and a 50
Lap Feature. David Stremme is coming home to
Plymouth Speedway to compete for 200 grueling laps
on the semi banked and very fast 3/8 mile asphalt
oval. The CRA FWD Compacts will round out the
program. For more information go to
http://www.craracing.net/.
Today Sunday July 5th is the Firecracker 200
for Street Stocks at Salem (IN) Speedway. I wanted
to get this written before I left. I will recap this
race in next weeks article! If you are a driver or
crewman and would to be interviewed please email me
at
indybear37@yahoo.com. Gotta go see ya at the
