Hello racefans I am in the midst of a
wild CRA racing weekend as Ronnie Rose went flag
to flag winning the the CRA Street Stock 75 lap
feature Saturday Night August 22nd at Anderson
(IN) Speedway. Chad Poorman finished very strong
in 2nd place with a hard charging Rich Boyer
,Josh Burton and Bubba Trinkle rounding out the
top five! On lap 65 of the race Rick Erwin was
sent airborn in turn three slamming into the
turn three Safety barrels. Brian Hopkins and
Bret Miles Jr. were also involved in this three
car melee forcing all three of there cars out
of competition. Up until this racing accident it
was shaping up to be a real barnburner of a race
behind Ronnie Rose.
I have good news from Chandler (IN)
Motor Speedway in Chandler,Indiana they have
agreed to send me there racing results each week
as they race on Friday Nights each week
featuring UMP Modifieds,Street Stocks,Pure
Stocks and UMP Mini Stocks. Chandler Motor
Speedway is a 3/8 mile dirt oval located
northeast of Evansville,Indiana. Harold and
Phyllis Baker are the track owners with gates
opening each week on Fridays at 5PM,hot laps
6:30 PM with racing beginning at 7:30 PM.
Chandler Motor Speedway is located at 1099
Inderrieden Rd. in Chandler,Indiana. For more

Friday Night August 22nd I went to Gas
City (IN) Speedway for my 3rd visit there in my
lifetime. Gas City Speedway was rained out
Friday Night just as the non wing sprint car
feature rolled onto the track. I love the view
at Gas City from the grandstands as you sit very
close to the track just like you do at tracks
like Kankakee (IL) Speedway and South Bend (IN)
Motor Speedway. I mean you sit so close at these
tracks that you feel the wind and the dirt
flying toward you! To me this is an awesome
feeling of in your face dirt track action! The
officials at Gas City Speedway are extremely
efficient keeping the show moving very quickly
having the next race rolling out the line up
shoot as soon as the checkered flag waves!
Friday Night September 4th will be a
full program at Gas City (IN) Speedway featuring
Non Wing Sprints,UMP Modifieds,Street Stocks and
Thundercars along with makeup features from the
August 22nd rainout! I highly recommend you take
in a race at Gas City before the 2009 racing
season ends!
Josh Poore won the Thundercar feature
Saturday Night at Anderson (IN) Speedway holding
off Rod Phipps and Nick Warner at the finish
line. These drivers fought very hard in the
feature and were nose to tail at the line as
Phipps and Warner did everything they could but
could not get by Josh Poore.Nick Warner did
return later Saturday Night to win his 5th FWD
Figure 8 Feature in a row at Anderson (IN)
Speedway.Jack Leisure won the FWD Oval Feature
Saturday Night winning his 2nd feature in a row
on the oval at Anderson Speedway.
Duane Chamberlain won the Late Model
Feature Friday Night at Union County (IN)
Speedway. Duane is a very talented driver as I
have witnessed him winning the O'Reilly Allstar
Late Model Series race at Twin Cities (IN)
Raceway Park this season. I have only been to
Union County Speedway once in 2009 because State
Road 44 here in Indiana is under construction
and is completely closed making it very
difficult to get to the track from Interstate
74. I hope to see more races at Union County in
2010 when the construction is completed.
My Midwest Racing Fan Of The Week is
Kristi Wright of Muncie,Indiana. Kristi is 32
years of age and she is friends with several CRA
Street Stock drivers at Anderson Speedway. Rod
Phipps is her favorite driver in the Thundercars
and Anderson Speedway is her hometrack. Kristi
would like to see more races at Winchester (IN)
Speedway with her favorite series being the CRA
Street Stocks touring division. Kristi has
traveled as far as the Fairgrounds Speedway in
Nashville Tennessee. Kristi believes that all
tracks should watch the timing light better to
ensure that drivers are not running over there
qualifying times in the feature event. She has
been a racefan all of her life. Kristi has
attended the North vs. South Race in
Nashville,TN at the Fairgrounds (TN) Speedway.
Kristi was up and down out her seat all night
Saturday hooping and hollering and waving her
arms cheering on her favorite drivers which
compelled me to ask her to be the Midwest Racing
Fan Of The Week!!
Coming Friday August 28th is the Lucas
Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Lawrenceburg (IN)
Speedway along with the Budweiser UMP Modifieds
being the support class Friday night for the
Late Models. This will be my very 1st race ever
at Lawrenceburg as I have driven by it several
times in the past. I wish I could have seen the
old track so I can compare it to the new 3/8
mile configuration. None the less I am very
excited about this race and adding it to my
trackchaser count list of tracks visited!
Saturday August 29th is a regular show
at Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway featuring Late
Models,Thundercars,Hornets and UMRA Midgets. For
more information please log on to
www.mtlawn.com . Anderson (IN) Speedway has
the Greg Dietzen Memorial Race for Legends along
with Street Stocks,Figure Eights and Thunder
Roadsters.
