Hey racefans it was a great weekend of racing as I
went to Bloomington (IN) Speedway Friday Night Augsut 7th.
The races were rained out after the heat races but the
racing was awesome. Blommington is a very fan friendly track
which has been open since 1923. The concession stand is very
reasonably priced and they have granstand and hillside lawn
chair seating areas for your enjoyment. They also have a
Bloomington Speedway weekly program with driver rosters and
there hometowns. This is very useful for occasional visiting
racefans.If you get a chance please check out Bloomington
Speedway and take you a cooler as they are allowed also.
bloomington runs on Friday Night with Sprints,UMP Modifieds
and UMP Super Stocks.

Midwest Racing Fan Of The
Week is Richard Hicks from Connersville,Indiana.
Richard's hometrack is Lawrenceburg (IN)
Speedway. HIs favorite drivers are Tracy Hines,Ted Hines,and
Levi Jones. Richard would like to visit the Devils Bowl
Speedway out west someday. Richards favorite touring series
is USAC and favorite events are the Chili Bowl and the
Little 500 at Anderson(IN) Speedway. Richard has driven up
to 700 miles to attend an auto race!Richard would like to
see higher car counts in all racing divisions and has been a
racefan for 58 years. Richard attends the races every week
and likes dirt tracks and midgets & Sprints the most.
Richard definitely is a devoted racefan which is the
criteria to be The Midwest Racing Fan Of THe Week!
Coming Saturday August 15th is the 3rd and final
IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series Event at Plymouth
(IN) Speedway. It should be an awesome race with two races
already under these drivers belts which gives them the
experience they need to put on a good show at Plymouth
Speedway! The Sportsman,FWD Cars and Mini Stocks will round
out the program that evening at Plymouth.
Anderson (IN) Speedway hosts the HOSS Outllaw Winged
Sprints this Saturday August 15th with FWD Oval and Figure 8
Divisions and the Immediadent Figure 8 Division. This is the
final appearance for HOSS Sprints in 2009 at Anderson so
make plans to attend.
Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway has a regular show of Late
Models,Thundercars,Hornets and UMRA Midgets Saturday August
15th. The UMRA Midgets always put on a good show at Mt. Lawn
so sit down get you a famous Mt. Lawn cheeseburger,fries and
onion rings and you are good to go! Mt Lawn also has
fountain Coca-Cola which always tastes very good out of
there fountain so you can add a Coke to your meal!
Scott Hantz won the Super Summer Sizzler Outlaw Late
Model show at New Paris IN) Speedway Thursday Night. Jim
Anglemeyer won the Mini Stock Super Summer Sizzler Shootout
Event. New Paris is a great track where you can take in
coolers,grill out and watch races! There are not too many
tracks where you can party like this! I wish New Paris and
Plymouth (IN) Speedway were closer to Indy just for my own
self serving desires! I wish we had Outlaw Type Late Models
here in my neck of the woods! The Michiana racefans have it
made with plenty of Late Model tracks and drivers to support
those tracks as well. I would like to go to
Kalamazoo,Berlin,M-40,Dixie,Owosso and many others as I have
not been to any MI. tracks yet there on my wishlist!
Jack Landis won the Super Pro Series Late Model
event at Baer Field (IN) Speedway Friday Night. Landis is a
former ASA Late Model driver and is a threat to win anywhere
he competes! Congratulations to Jack Landis on your win!
Tony Stewart from Straughn,Indiana in a post race
interview invited Brian Hopkins and Kevin Clayborn both to
compete weekly in the Mt. Lawn Thundercar division after
Brian Hopkins won the Founders Day 100 For Thundercars.
Kevin Claborn was 2nd in the Founders Day 100 and Tony
Stewart thrives on competition and this shows class and
sportsmanship on his part!
Jason Atkinson won the CRA Sportsman 75 at Anderson
(IN) Speedway Saturday Night. Jason is a regular in the Mt.
Lawn Late Models at Mt. Lawn Speedway. William Mefford
finished 8th in the CRA Sportsman event while Brandon
Mefford finished 18th. It was good seeing Mt. Lawn Speedway
well represented at Anderson in the CRA events Saturday with
these three drivers.
Rick Erwin won the CRA Street Stock 75 Saturday At
Anderson. Rick ran very well at Plymouth (IN) Speedway last
month as well! Rick is from Brooks,Kentucky and its good to
see him have some good luck for a change congrats to Rick on
beating the Anderson Speedway regulars on there home turf!
How do you feel about Coolers being allowed into the
tracks? Are you in favor of it? I think all tracks should
allow at least a 6 pack size cooler in. I also favor tracks
that have an electric scoreboard and also printed weekly
racing programs with driver points and division rosters. I
feel a track that has all of these things are very fan
friendly and fan contious. I know at times I am lost at a
track with no scoreboard. Do you think all tracks should
pill draw or qualify? Do you ever write down qualifying
times when your at a track? Do you enjoy watching qualifying
at your track? I would really like some feedback on some of
