Hello Racefans it was awesome weekend of racing with no rainouts in this area that I know of. Congratulations to Bart Hartman as he won the World 100 for UMP Dirt Late Models at Eldora (OH) Speedway Saturday Night. It does not look like I am going to make it to Eldora Speedway in 2009 because there is always races closer to Indianapolis at tracks like Winchester (IN) Speedway and Salem (IN) Speedway here in my home state of Indiana. Sometimes it is really tough picking and choosing where to go see a race when there are two or three premier races going on each weekend. Sometimes the very next weekend there are no premier/special races going on but regular show type programs. You can look it like this its either feast or famine in the racing world!

Friday and Saturday NIght I went to the Indianapolis (IN) Speedrome for the World 3 Hour Figure 8 Championship. Friday Night hosted 6 qualifying feature figure 8 races to determine the starting lineup for the World 3 Hour Figure 8 Championship. I was able to take photos Friday Night then turn around and forgot my camera on Saturday Night so there are no photos from Saturday Nights racing.

A capacity crowd witnessed Ben Tunny win his first ever World 3 Hour Figure 8 Championship as frontrunners and former World Figure 8 Champions Leonard Basham and Jack Dossey Jr. both were eliminated in a crossover incident at the Indianapolis (IN) Speedrome. Almost every driver that lead the World Figure 8 Championship Race eventually got tangled up in crashes or had skirmishes with lapped cars. Rodney Sizemore was in second place and led the race for many laps until he had mechanical issues on his car. The World Figure 8 Championship is a very intense endurance race where timing is of the essence and knowing  when and how to weave your way through traffic without destroying your car in the process! One error in crossover judgement could mean disaster for your racecar! I think you have to be daring and also have a little bit of luck on your side when u thread a crossover with your car being untouched! Some cars at the Indianapolis (IN) Speedrome go four and five wide through the crossover and please do not ask me how they do it! If you ever get the chance go to the World Figure 8 Championship at the Indianapolis Speedrome!
