Indianapolis,IN By Tom Botos Sept. 20th
This is another huge racing weekend with season ending
championship races at tracks all over the midwest racing area.
New Paris (IN) Speedway had there Season Championship Blowout
Races this weekend for Outlaw Late Models ,street stocks, and
mini stocks. I have never been to this blowout race as always
there are races going on closer to Indianapolis. I have always
dreamed of owning a motorhome and camping out at big races at
Winchester Speedway and camping out all weekend with racefans.
It is so neat watcing racefans grilling out and camping out
having fun all weekend. I also dreamed of being born in a
racing family and racing at different tracks and going to
different tracks each weekend.
As I have been writing this column now for two racing
seasons. I have met so many nice people in the racing world
giving me a unique perspective and way of looking at things from
not only a drivers viewpoint but the promoter and track owners
viewpoint as well. Meeting and talking with fans and drivers are
experiences you never forget and I really enjoy writing this
There are still some big races yet to go this season as
I have found races to attend up through October 31st! It is hard
to believe that the 2009 racing season is about over but im sure
it is going out with a bang! Coming this Saturday September 26th
will be the Season Championships at Anderson (IN) Speedway
featuring Street Stocks,Thundercars,FWD Oval and Figure 8s,and
the Immediadent Figure 8 Division. Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway is
closed now until 2010. Kamp (IN) Speedway has there final races
Saturday Sept 26th with Late Models,Sportsman,Street Stocks,and
Modifieds. Jungle Park (IN) Speedway has there bench racers
reunion Saturday Sept. 26th with vintage racecars on hand as
well as food vendors and racing memorabilia as well. I hope the
weather is decent because this would be a fun event to go to
and chit chat about racing all day long! New Paris (IN) Speedway
has a 100 Lap Figure 8 Enduro Saturday Sept. 26th if you enjoy
enduro type racing. Shadyhill (IN) Speedway has there Race Of
Champions for each UMP Modified feature winner this season at
Shadyhill Speedway on Saturday Sept. 26th. A full program of UMP
Modifieds,Super Streets,Pure Streets,IMODS and Barefoot Mini
Stocks round out the program to finish the season at Shadyhill
Plymouth (IN) Speedway has there Stock Car Festival this
coming weekend as well. The Superpro Late Model Series will race
at Plymouth on Saturday Sept. 26th along with all heat races
that are necessary for all divisions with Sunday Sept. 27th
scheduled as feature day for all classes at Plymouth.

and I am looking forward to it!
Brownstown (IN) Speedway has the Jackson 100 for the
Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series on Saturday Sept 26th.
Sportsdrome (IN) Speedway has the Midwestern 75 Lap Championship
for Winged Extreme Figure 8s along with Dromer Oval and Dromer
Figure 8 Divisions. Outlaw Figure 8s and FWD cars will round out
the program at Sportsdrome (IN) Speedway Sat. Sept. 26th.
My MIdwest Racing Fan Of The Week is Tara Goff and
Bryce Hawkins with Tara being 25 years old and Bryce is 3 years
old. Tara and Bryce are from Columbus,Indiana. There favorite
driver is UMRA TQ Midget Champion Terry Goff. Tara and Bryce
also love to watch Oogie and Jason Goff in UMRA TQ Midgets.
Tara and Bryce love to watch Figure 8 cars at Anderson
(IN) Speedway. They also follow the UMRA TQ midgets all season
long to every track the series has an event. Bryce and Tara
would like to see better food at track concession stands at an
affordable price. Bryce and Tara would appreciate a better
speaker system at some tracks it is difficult to hear track
announcers. You might see Bryce and Tara at Rumble Series racing
events at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Friday Night at Mt. Lawn
(IN) Speedway Terry Goff awarded Bryce Hawkins his Heat Race
Winning trophy which I am sure Bryce will cherish for the rest
of his life. When drivers do these types of things for racefans
they dont realize they are creating memories of going to the
races that last a lifetime!
My Midwest Racing Driver Of The Week is Brian Renolds
from Mooreland,Indiana. Brian is 32 years old and this is his
first full year of racing in a Hornet car at Mt. Lawn (IN)
Speedway. Brian has a red #76 car that is a bit beat up from
some hard racing. I Have seen Brian win Trophy Dashes,Heats and
two features this season at Mt. Lawn with NO Sponsorships. I see
real potential in this driver doing so well on a limited budget!
Brian really enjoyed winning the 50 Lap Hornet Enduro last
weekend at Mt. Lawn this gives him 3 feature wins in 2009!
Brian's father Stephen Reynolds and best friend Matt Greenwell
turn the wrenches on the car to keep Brian running up front as I
wish brian the best of luck in 2010! I would like to see Brian
in a Late Model or Thundercar if anyone would like to sponsor
Brian in 2010 please email me at
