Midwest Racing Roundup  By  Tom Botos   6-21-10
Hey race fans it was a halfway decent weekend of racing despite many Friday night tracks being rained out. Most of the Saturday night tracks that I know of got there shows in as it was very hot and steamy all weekend long. I did not make it to a Friday Night race this week. Congratulations to Josh Poore on his win in the CRA Street Stock 300 saturday Night at Anderson Speedway! Josh Poore wrestled away the lead from #00 car of Brett Hudson from Kentucky in the seond half of the 300 lap race. I think it was Josh Poore's  first win this season in that new beautiful #27 machine of his. Josh is for real and icould be a contender to win the street stock championship this year at Anderson Speedway.
I want to talk about . Racestatus is a social network for everyone in the racing community. It is really useful this season with all that bad weather and rainouts we have had across the midwest racing area. Racestatus does not cost extra and there is no web program to download. You sing up for racestatus at and yo can send and receive text messages from race fans, drivers, promoters and track owners.. After you sign up for racestatus  if you become a publisher you  can text messages to 248 202 6140 by typing in the three number track code you are given. if you become a follower you will get text messages from me as I am a publisher for Mt Lawn,Anderson,Salem and Winchester Speedways ! I do know that the CRA Champion Racing Association is associated with and you can follow them as well as the O'reilly USA Modified Series on Racestatus. You can also link Racestatus to your facebook account if you like. I really think this is the future and a new and useful way to stay in better contact with everyone in the racing community. Racestatus will keep us up to date with whats going on while at the track and away from our computers. So please go to and try it out today!
My Midwest Racing Fan of the Week is Scott Rozner from Three Rivers,Michigan. I met Scott while on facebook. We were chatting about racing in the Michiana area. Scott raced at M-40 Speedway in Jones,Michigan and also Thunder Valley Speedway. Scott had an accident which has kept him from racing the past few years. During my interview with him for this feature he stated that he might be interested in being reporter or columnist for www.mwracingnews,com . I told Scott just go to the track and write down anything that you witness or comes to mind that you feel race fans might want to read about. Obviously writing down full race results and interviewing drivers are the top two things that come to my mind that fans care about reading. Driver interviews are always very interesting to fans in my opinion since most of the time fans cannot chat with drivers until after the features are over and the pit area is opened up to everyone. Scott is 49 years of age and his favorite drivers are Jeff Vochaska and Rusty Wallace. Scott's home track is the M40 Speedway in Jones,Mchigan with a few trips to Galesburg (MI) Speedways on Saturday Nights. Scott says his favorite tracks are Bristol Motor Speedway and Plymouth Speedway. scott enjoys CRA series racing and O'Reilly USA Modified series when they are nearby. Scott's longest distance traveled to a race track is the sunny state of California as he visited two tracks out there. Scott says collers should be allowed at ll tracks within reason and would like to see more "run what you brung" type races instead of class or division racing all the time. Scott has been a fan of racing for 40 years and attends races every weekend as much as possible. Scott likes and competed in the Street Stock Division the most. Scottt says regular shows are just as important as the big paying special event shows and would like to see both supported equally. Scott has been to Oswego (NY) Speedway to watch the big block modifieds and supermodifieds. He has seen many ARCA and ASA events as well as the New Paris Speedway Summer Sizzler Late Model event. The Super hoe Nationals and the Kalamazoo Clash are shows he has attended as well. Scott prefers asphalt tracks over dirt surfaces so we didnt talk to much "dirt\ racin" Thank you Scott for being my Midwest Racing Fan of the Week and good luck being  a writer/columnist!
This Sunday the IOFS International Outlaw Figure 8 Series will debut on the NEW 1/4 figure 8n and oval track at Salem (IN) Speedway!
