Midwest Racing Roundup    By Tom Botos     1-9-11

Hello Race Fans welcome to the 2011 racing season here in our midwest racing area! I am very excited about the upcoming Indy Circle 11 Racing Trade Show at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on Saturday January 29th. This is a very good show with race cars on display and vendor booths handing out 2011 racing season schedules and information from the midwest area race tracks. HARF The Hoosier Auto Racing Fan club will have a booth handing out information on how to join the club and a schedule on the various events they will have for fans this upcoming season. For detailed information on the Indy Circle Track 11 Expo go to http://www.shoestringracing.com/ .

Great news! if you have not already heard the the famous South Bend Motor Speedway is reopening with a full schedule of racing on Saturday Nights to entertain Michiana racing fans. South Bend Motor Speedway has grandstand on both sides of the track and there is a narrow path between the race fans and the track itself. I love tracks like this where you literally sit as close to the track as possible and all the action is right in your face similar to New Paris (IN) Speedway and Kankakee County (IL) Speedway. The link for the South Bend Motor Speedway website is at http://www.racesouthbendmotorspeedway.com/.

The CRA Champion Racing Association has purchased the Super Pro Racing Series from series race director Bill Lackey. Bill Lackey will serve as a consultant to ensure that the new CRA Crate Late Model Series will continue to be successful and provide an affordable and economic way for race teams to be able to travel and compete on a resonable racing budget. The CRA Crate Late Model Series is supposed to be an 11 or 12 event racing schedule which will be released very soon. For more information on all the CRA racing series please go to www.craracing.net.

CRA has released the schedule for the CRA Super Series Late Models. M-40 (MI) Speedway has an event and ORP O"Reilly Raceway Park both have events scheduled for 2011. Unfortunately Salem (IN) Speedway is not on the CRA schedule.I am glad to see Anderson,Plymouth and Winchester Speedways on the schedule as always! Here is the link for the 2011 CRA Super Series Schedule  http://www.craracing.net/schedule.html .

Anderson (IN) Speedway has added the CRA Sportsman type cars as a regular points division for 2011! I am very excited about this move! Anderson also has five yes five! IOFS Outlaw Figure Series events scheduled for 2011 to thrill us fans at the best figure 8 track in the midwest!

I feel this year will be lots of fun and much better car count wise all across the board. Three tracks up in the Michiana area have aligned there late model rules to allow versatility and more traveling from track to track for drivers and fans alike. Go to www.andersonspeedway.com  to see the 2011 racing schedule for Anderson Speedway. Winchester Speedway will have the ARCA Series return on Saturday Night June 25th. This is very good news as we all need to think positive that all our tracks and drivers will be successful here in 2011! if you have any more news, notes or rumors please email me at Indybear37@yahoo.com. Gotta go see you at the races!
