Well racefans its now time to buckle down and get ready for a wild and wooly racing season all throughout  the midwest in 2011! I have great news Mr. Terry Fitzwater whom owned and operated Michigan Racing Scene has regained control of his weekly racing newspaper and is renaming it Midwest Racing Scene. Yes it will be a weekly short track newspaper covering many tracks in the midwest including Indiana,Ohio and Michigan. My column will appear every week in this paper starting on April 21st being the first  printing date. I am very excited about this and wil do all I can to see that our area tracks have a publication we all can be proud of. I miss having a paper to read each week at the track. Midwest Racing Scene should remedy our boredom during caution periods and idle time at the tracks.

 

Myself and Terry met with Rick Sweigart owner of Mt. Lawn (IN) Speedway and also Wayne Bruzzese from Anderson (IN) Speedway  asking permission to sell the papers at the tracks all season long. I am hoping the tracks ,crews and drivers will support us in this venture to keep our racing community informed the old fashioned way by having proof in your hands that our tracks are running every week despite our worthless economy and gas prices.

 

Coming this Saturday April 2nd is Opening Night at Anderson (IN) Speedway with Late Models,Figure 8s,Thundercars and FWD Oval Cars. I am very excited to see these Late Models back at Anderson it should be a whale of a show. I am hoping some Michiana area Sportsman/Late Models will travel since no other tracks are open yet.

 

The Indianapolis (IN) Speedrome has there opening night Saturday April 2nd with Late Models,Stocks,Roadrunners,Hornets,Legends,Bandoleros and Faskarts.

 

Friday April 1st will see Twin Cities Raceway Park open with Sprints,Late Models,Super Stocks and Hornets. 1,500 to win each for both Sprints and Late Models.

 

Twin Cities also races Saturday April 2nd with Sprints,Super Stocks,Pure Stocks and Mini Stocks. The Sprints will be racing for 6,000 to win.

 

Union County (IN) Speedway in Liberty,Indiana will open Friday April 29th with weekly Friday Night racing with Late Models,Modifieds,Super Stocks,Road Hogs and Hornets. For more information please log on to www.unioncountyspeedway.com .

 

Montpelier (IN) Speedway opens Saturday April 9th with UMP Modifieds,Super Streets,Thundercars and Mod Lites. For more information log on to www.montpeliermotorspeedway.com .

 

Gas City (IN) Speedway opens Friday April 8th with Non Wing Sprints,Modifieds,Street Stocks and Thundercars.

 

Plymouth (IN) Speedway has the Cabin Fever 200 with CRA Sportsman,CRA Street Stocks and CRA Compacts on Sunday April 10th. This should be an awesome show for only twelve bucks to get in!! For more information go to www.craracing.net or  http://www.plymouthspeedway.net/.

 

Salem (IN) Speedway hosts The Winged Sprint Spectacular with Must See Winged Sprint Series,Lucas Oil Super Stocks, and Dave & Deb’s Winner’s Circle Great American Stocks also on Sunday April 10th.
