Midwest Racing Roundup By Tom Botos 5-15-11
Hey racefans it was not a very good racing weekend with
most of the tracks in Michigan getting rained out. Anderson
Speedway got the Legends feature and the CRA Sportsman features
in before rained washed out the rest of the program.
Congratulations goes out to Jason Atkinson for winning the CRA
Sportsman feature Saturday Night at Anderson Speedway. Brian
Knuckles from Columbus,Ohio won the Legends feature.
Mt.Lawn (IN) Speedway was rained out after there heat
races were completed. This weather has really played havoc on
all midwest area tracks as Winchester Speedway canceled there
racing completely due to rain forecasts.
Tim Cox won the HOSS Sprint car feature at Baer Field
Speedway and rain stopped that program completely as well after
the sprint feature.
Coming this Saturday May 21 will be the NAPA Twin 50's
for Late Models and Modifieds at Baer Field Speedway plus the
rainout make up features from Saturday May14th! this should be a
whale of a show for only $15.00!!!
Anderson Speedway has there Spring Championships for
Late models,Street Stocks,Figure 8s,and FWD Oval and Figure 8
Divisions. This should be an awesome program of racing.
Mt.Lawn Speedway will have a regular show of late
models,Thundercars,Hornets and Rookie Hornets. Rainchecks from
May 14th will be honored for this event.
I spoke with Late Model driver #2 Terry Cater Saturday
Night at Anderson Speedway. Terry seems very pleased with how
his car is running this year in CRA Sportsman competition. Terry
is a former late model track champion at Mt.Lawn Speedway and he
is a real threat to win at every track he races on. I wish Terry
the best of luck this racing season as it is a joy to talk with
him.
Gas City I 69 Speedway hosts HARF and DARF Night where
club members receive half off general admission tickets! The
show will have Sprints,Modifieds,Street Stocks and Thundercars
on the menu. Gas city has had four rainouts thus far this season
which is very dissappointing. I hope for better warmer weather
this weekend so that all tracks can get there shows in!
Bloomington Speedway hosts the Larry Rice Classic Friday
May 20th featuring USAC Sprints and MMSA Mini Sprints.
Bloomington is a very nice facility with good food and coolers
are allowed in. bloomington also has hillside lawn chair seating
to make you comfy as u watch the races!
Montpelier Motor Speedway hosts UMRA TQ Midgets along
with Modifieds,Super Streets,Thundercars and Modlites. Monpelier
has a very quick lightning paced show and they have great car
counts as well. I do need to get to this track sometime this
racing season. This event is this Saturday May 21st at the
speedway.
Kokomo Speedway hosts Sprints,Street Stocks ,Thundercars
and I mods this Sunday May 22nd.
The CRA Asphalt Wars will be waged this Sunday May22nd
with CRA Super Series Late Models going 100 laps at Baer field
Speedway along with Modifieds,CRA Street Stocks, and CRA FWD
Compacts! I am gonna do my best to make this show! i think its
gonna be a real war on the Baer Fileld half mile.
When I hear of any rescheduled shows I will let you fans
know as both Salem Speedway and illiana Speedway events were
postponed as well. well thats about all I have this week fans.
