Midwest Racing Roundup by Tom Botos
Indianapolis, IN 9-5-08
Well Race fans the season is winding down very fast for fans and drivers alike! This time of year means big races, season championships and more laps added to features so drivers can accumulate as many points as possible to add to there point total!
I have an idea I would like to start a racing fan club if there is enough interest in joining a new club? I would call it the Midwest Racing Fan Club which is open to anyone involved or is a fan of dirt or asphalt racing! It is free to join this email based chat club where we chat by email and also chat in the www.indianadirtscoops.net chartroom. The Indiana dirt scoops chartroom is a free chartroom where we have been gathering on Mondays and Thursday Nights and sometimes Monday thru Thursday nights as this chartroom is always open. I think this is a great way to make racing friends and get through the cold winters with no racing to go to and still chat about racing! This club is brand new so if u have any ideas or would like to join email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rocky Top (OH) Speedway is reopening Saturday Sept 6th.If there is a good showing for this race they plan to have more Saturday Night shows this Fall. I think this is really good news after Brown County (OH) Speedway reopened only to close back up again for the rest of the season. Midway (OH) Speedway really has there act together and seems to be promoted very well. I met Gibby several years ago during my racing trip to Ohio.Gibby keeps everyone informed on what's going on at Midway (OH) Speedway and I want to say thanks for a job well done!

I am planning on going to Brownstown Sept 13th,19th,and 20th to cover there races! I am very excited its been awhile since I have been to Brownstown and I hear there has beenthere all season long and I
hope that streak continues!
I noticed in Brownstown's results that Jim Curry was back racing but didn't make the Feature event. I am just glad he is back as one of my favorite all time drivers! Good Luck Jim Curry I hope he can run the Jackson 100 Sept 19th and 20th!
Vern Lefevers is back racing again in a #71 Late model he was supposed to race at Brushcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles,Ohio on September 6th.I am sure some fans would like to see "Mr. Saturday Night" run the World 100 but I am glad he is back anyway! Vern has won many features in his career at various tracks
around the Midwest.
