Midwest Racing
Roundup by Tom Botos
Hello racefans, I went to
Winchester Speedway for the first time this season
Sunday July 20th for the Modified BIg One co-sanctioned AMS
and USA Modified event. The track is badfast! and if u have
never been to
Winchester Speedway i recommend you go at at least
once! I have seen some awesome racing on the daunting high
banks over the years.Coming up Sunday August 10th is the
King Of The Wings Sprint Car Challenge at Winchester with
the HOSS Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series along with the Auto
Value Bumper to Bumper
Super Sprint
Series. The CRA Sportsman Series and INEX THunder Roadsters
are also running Sunday August 10th.If u ever get to
Winchester check out the racing photos preserved in frames
with racing legends like
Jeff Gordon
and Tony
Stewart and many other racing greats cut there
teeth at tracks like Winchester and Salem Speedway. These
pictures are on the walls of the spectator entrance to the
track. One really nice benefit is the "tunnel" dug underneath
the track to let fans and crews in the pit area without
stopping the races.Go to
www.winchesterspeedway.com for info.about the
speedway.
Saturday August 2nd is a
regular show of Late Models,Thundercars, and Hornets along
with the UMRA MIdgets at Mount Lawn(IN) Speedway. There
website is
www.mtlawn.com.
Also on Saturday August 2nd
will be the Thundercar Enduro race at Anderson Speedway
with Street Stocks,Legends, and FWD Pro cars which are
similar to Hornets or Compacts. For info on Anderson go
www.andersonspeedway.com.
This site is loaded with
pics and history about a track i never got to see. They
list Salem
Speedway and Winchester
Speedway as sister tracks to the Dayton Speedway. The site
talks about the "Dayton 500" i bet this was a grueling
race similar to the Winchester 400 which is scheduled
for October 10-12th.
Salem Speedway is racing Sunday August 3rd with the
Joe James/Pat O'Connor Memorial for USAC Sprints along with
Super Stocks and Street Stocks there website is
www.salemspeedway.com.

Figure 8 divisions.the Dromer oval and Dromer figure 8
divisions are entry level classes to get started racing. The
"drome"offers close to your door side by side racingand
