Forrest and Charlotte Lucas Visit Brownstown Speedway for 27th Annual Jackson 100
Last Saturday’s appearance by Forrest and Charlotte Lucas at Brownstown Speedway created a lot of excitement among racers and fans. They were accessible throughout the evening and graciously posed for photos with drivers and fans while moving around the facility in a golf cart. In his comments at the drivers meeting, Forrest related that he grew up in Southern Indiana not far from the Brownstown track.
During pre-race ceremonies, Forrest presented Indianapolis Colts game tickets to promoters Tim and Farrah Keithley and Jerry and Bonnie Jones for their work with the historic Brownstown Speedway in 2006. Lucas recently won naming rights for the new Indianapolis Colts stadium, now known as Lucas Oil Stadium. The Lucas association with Indianapolis will grow further with the move of their son Morgan’s Lucas Oil Top Fuel Dragster operation from California to Indianapolis.
It’s clearly an understatement to say that Lucas Oil is already a dominant name in automotive competitions that include drag racing, dirt track racing, boat racing, off-road racing and tractor pulling. The company owns two racetracks, the I-10 Lucas Oil Speedway in Blythe, California and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.
Forrest and Charlotte were at Brownstown Speedway for the “27th Annual Jackson 100” which was sanctioned for the first time by the “Lucas Oil Late Model DIRT SERIES Touring Division.” This prestigious series schedule lists 38 dates in 18 states. The series attracts top national and regional drivers, plus the better drivers from each area visited. Spencer Wilson of Lexington, Kentucky is Series Director. James Essex of Greensburg, Indiana is Public Relations Director and Announcer.
The sixty-five Late Model entries treated a packed house of enthusiastic fans with time trials, six heat races, two B Mains, and the feature. Don O’Neal took the final checkered flag. View complete results, race summary and schedule at http://www.lucasdirt.com/
