LUVRACIN.COM VISITS INDIANAPOLIS SPEEDROME
“The Home of the World Figure 8” is best known for its Late Model Figure 8 racing. That doesn’t mean its other classes aren’t outstanding in their own right. I learned that on a visit to the track Friday, July 14th when these classes raced: Modifieds, Hornets, Hornet Figure 8, Bomber Figure 8, Naskarts, and Junior Naskarts. That’s a lot of classes and lots of cars. And they are serious competitors.
Action from the high-powered and aggressively driven Modifieds proves the point as the leader took out his challenger late in the race. The result was disappointing for both as the challenger appeared ready to take the win and track officials disqualified the leader. It was an exciting race and crash, but could have been an even more exciting finish. Doug Grieg ran hard and clean to get the win.
The Hornet Oval, Hornet Figure 8 and Bomber Figure 8 racers never disappoint. Their races were competitive. Sonny Rednour won the Hornet oval feature. Larry Hatfield took the Hornet Figure 8. The Bomber Figure 8 race saw John Collins finish first.
Junior Naskarts winner was Brock Anderson. David Plummer, Jr. was the Senior winner.
