IRL IndyCar Series Drivers Danica Patrick and Sam Hornish, Jr. Press Conference at Kentucky Speedway on August 9

Danica Patrick appears to be growing weary of questions about when she will get her first IndyCar Series win.  Yet she was gracious when asked at the Kentucky Speedway press conference. Some interesting discussion followed when asked how she planned to celebrate her first visit to the winners circle.  While she has given it some thought, she hasn’t settled on specifics.  Others apparently have!  Tony Kanaan, who sports the bald look, is reported to be in possession of clippers for the purpose of giving Danica a similar look after her first win.  Danica isn’t high on the idea, to say the least!  Stay tuned.

My prediction is that Danica’s first IndyCar Series win comes this weekend at Kentucky Speedway.  She runs well there.  She won the Kentucky Speedway pole award in 2005. She’s running well this year with three top-five finishes and appears on the verge of a breakthrough.

Sam Hornish, Jr. also can challenge for the win. He is a three-time IndyCar Series Champion.  The Defiance, Ohio native has been successful at Kentucky Speedway with wins in 2003 and 2006, second place in 2002 and third in 2001.  He set the race speed record of 197.897 mph in 2003.

This weekend is a great opportunity to see IRL racing.  Gates open at 3:00 p.m. Friday for Indy Pro Series and IndyCar Series practice and qualifying.  At 7:30 p.m. fans get driver autographs at the “Radio Disney AM 680 Fanfest and Autograph Session.”

Gates open at 2:00 pm Saturday.  Radio Disney AM 680 Family Activities begin at 3:00 pm and the Jonas Brothers Concert at 4:30 pm. The “Meijer Indy 300 Presented by Coca-Cola and Edy’s” IRL IndyCar Series feature race begins at 6:30 pm.  The IRL Indy Pro Series race takes the green flag at 9:00 pm, to wrap up a weekend with two great races and a lot of entertainment.  I might add, for those who haven’t been to Kentucky Speedway, you will experience loads of entertainment in a fan and family friendly facility, along with world-class IRL racing.

Tickets are available by phone at 888-652-RACE, online at KentuckySpeedway.com or at any Meijer store.
