ETI was formed in 1993 by the father and son team of Ron and Shawn Evans for the purpose of pursuing sales and marketing of products and/or services through exposure to motorsports, specifically drag racing. Ron has been involved in motorsports since 1955 and Shawn formally since 1982. They currently are preparing for the 2005 season by completing work on a TA/FC that can be converted to AA/FA for the purposes of competing in NHRA & IHRA National and Division competition as well as selected match races throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States. For the past 10 years, they have competed in SuperQuick and qualified selected events with a supercharged methanol burning rear engine dragster. Ron’s professional credentials include over 35 years in management and human resources with multi-national manufacturing companies. Shawn is currently a critical supply technician for company retained by Caterpillar in Decatur, Il.

Both have been active in the motorsports field for a great number of years. Ron began organized drag racing in 1955 on the airport at Lawrenceville, Illinois and has progressed through the years at all levels as a driver, tuner, and builder from Stock Eliminator to Top Fuel dragsters. He was a track manager at Motion Raceway from 1970 through 1979, then becoming the promoter at Rolling Thunder Raceway for 3 years. Shawn was essentially born into the sport, going to the races from a very early age, and then becoming a driver/tuner at the age of 16. His first “real” race car was a rear engine dragster, progressing to their last RED, an ex-TF car powered by and all aluminum supercharged KB hemi making over 3000 horsepower.

The attached photos are their latest entry. Final changes have been made at Jay Ater’s da TinMan shop in New Berlin, Illnois, a fabricator of unmatched talent and quality.

Presently, they have 2 complete 526 Keith Black hemi engines, burning methanol, utilizing the latest in hi helix superchargers and Gerardot fuel injection units. Both engines have 3 disc slider clutches and use B&J planetary 3 speed transmissions. If the budget ever allows, it is ETI’s intention to move up to nitro F/C or T/F dragster.

What appear to be race cars on the preceding pages are in all reality, sales and marketing tools. Ron and Shawn have understood from the beginning that competing at this level requires partnership with companies that assist in the funding. They fully understand that those partnerships are not formed because companies particularly like dragsters or funny cars, but to showcase products and/or services to the buying public, just as any other form of advertising or media display. Those companies have every reason to expect a reasonable return on their investment, something taken very seriously by Ron and Shawn. This team seeks out tracks and locations where maximum exposure for their partners can be facilitated, then run well, look good, and generate traffic past the trailer where the marketing can take place. The demographics associated with this sport are incredible in the amount of exposure provided to companies, in the appropriate age group that are responsible for purchases within their respective households. A demographic package is being prepared by ETI for presentation. Both race car and truck/trailer will carry signage along with crew uniforms.

Joe Haas, his son Joey, and Jay Ater form the center of the ETI crew at the races and static displays. Their incredible enthusiasm for the sport and the race car make a positive difference. They prepare the car for every run, making sure all is ready and safe when Shawn straps in for another 200+ mph pass. ETI could not function without their assistance and support.
