Jackie Boggs prevailed as the victor after most of the field has troubles

A beautiful day for racing at the Southern Ohio Speedway. After three attempts to get this race in they finally succeeded. A good field of cars were on hand to battle it out for the $3,000 top prize in what they are calling "The Road to the Southern 100" leading up to May 3rd's Southern 100 paying $10,000 to win which saw drivers such as Doug Drown, Tim McCreadie, Steve Francis, Jared Landers and many more last year.

The track was super fast as the track record was broke four times total in qualifying in both late models and modifieds. First off in late models Jason Montgomery came out and broke the track record only to have it taken away a few cars later by Jackie Boggs with a time of 15.48 seconds, which was the fastest lap ever turned by a late model in the tracks 47 year history. Then in the modified class Jason Montgomery once again broke the track record and again had it stripped away this time by Scott Lemaster.

In the late model 30 lap feature event Jackie Boggs and RJ Conley would put on a good battle for the lead as there was good battles all over the track. Boggs and Conley looked to be the guys to beat as they started pulling away from the rest of the field. With the high speeds on the large speedway it seemed to punish the high dollar equipment as cars started dropping like flies. In the caution filled event lap after lap seen car after car pull into the pit area with mechanical woes. With Boggs leading and RJ Conley and many other drivers having troubles Boggs went on to take the win, which was his second feature win of the weekend as he won a $5,000 to win race at the Willard Speedway in Kentucky on Friday night. Following Boggs across the line was Delmas Conley, Shannon Thornsberry, Joe Ramey and Kenneth Howell, who was the first car not to finish meaning only four cars crossed the finish line after completing 30 laps.
