David Smith
#114
David Smith drives the #114 Mini Stock
Class car.
He started racing in 1988 in the Super
Modified Class because his Dad, Earl Smith, raced as David was growing up.
His attempt at Super Modified with junk yard pieces was a miserable
failure. He realized he didn't know enough about cars, didn't know
enough people to help nor did he make enough money for it. He took a
sabbatical from racing until 1997 where he started back with the 4
Cylinder Class. After 6 years of learning he had his first win in
2003.
David enjoys tinkering with the cars,
building the engines, trying things, but mostly he likes to drive and be
competitive. Since the kids started playing ball, racing does take a
back seat until June.
His racing hero is Alan Kulwicki, but his
earliest racing memories are of watching and pulling for Gene Chupp.
