Lonnie Roberts drives the #81 National Late Model Series Class car.  His home track is Douglas Motorsports Park but he can also be found racing at Brunswick Speedway and Waycross Motor Speedway.  He lives in Sparks, GA.

Team members helping Lonnie are:  Sherry Roberts, Houston Joiner, Kayla Wall, Rance Phillips.  Sherry Roberts is the car owner.

Lonnie started racing in 1981 in the Late Model class car at Thunderbowl Speedway because of his need for speed.  His first win was in 1988 in the Late Model Class at Thunderbowl Speedway.  Career highlights include 2001 Columbia Motorsports Park Points Champion in Late Model, '03 North Florida Motor Speedway Late Model Points Champion, '04 Thanksgiving Race at Swainsboro, GA NLMS $12,000 Champion, '06 NVRA Points Champion in Modified Sportsman Division.

The thrill of racing for Lonnie is the speed and the side by side competition.  His most exciting racing moment was winning the '04 NLMS Turkey Shootout at Swainsboro GA $12,000 (the largest purse ever paid by NLMS for a single race!).  He's most proud that it's something he and his wife both enjoy doing together and have been for the last 26 years.

Lonnie's racing hero is Aubrey Holley of Tifton, Ga.

Of racing, Lonnie says, "Rubbing is racing.  It's a competitive sport, but you can't win it on the first lap.  Use your head, drive and pass the other guy as clean as you can and the race will always work out!".
