James Powell

James Powell drives the #37 Super Late Model Class car.  He lives in Astor, FLA.  His home track is New Smyrna Speedway.

He started racing in 1983 in the Super Late Model Class at Volusia Speedway Park because his Father had raced for a long time and James thought it was the thing to do.  He won the Governor's Cup in 2002 at New Smyrna Speedway, made the Dirt Track World Championship and won Late Model at Sebring Int'l Raceway in 2001-2002.

The thrill of racing for James is the competitive nature of it.  He enjoys being around the people that he meets.  "It's a unique family!".  He's most proud of being able to maintain the high level of competitiveness and to be one of the guys to beat his whole career.

James's racing hero is his Dad.
