Clay. Eddie and Gloria Grant are the car owners.
Eddie started racing in 1954 in the
Sportsman Class at Anderson Motor Speedway in South Carolina because he
enjoyed the mechanical work and fast cars. His first win was in
'55 in the Sportsman class at Banks County Speedway. Career
highlights include many wins in the early years but did not keep a
record. Winning the '05 Southern Vintage Series has been the
biggest highlight. They did win the Dixie Nationals in Woodstock
GA two years in a row with Chuck Padgett at the wheel.
The thrill of racing for Eddie is
winning and meeting racing people. His most exciting racing moment
was winning his first race back after being out of racing for 15 years.
Vintage Series with Dayton Antique Auto Racing Association at track in
Zephyrhilis, FL. He's most proud of winning the DAARA 2005
Southern Vintage Series Stock Car Championship driving his '32 Ford Open
Wheel Modified.
Eddie's racing heroes are Richard Petty
and Bill Elliott.
Of racing, Eddie says, "Very enjoyable
sport. Once you have started, there is no stopping!
