The love of speed drew him to racing in 1987 in the Stock Class at the Speedrome because . In 1988 Doug had his first win at Indianapolis Speedrome in the Stock Class. His career highlights were 11 Legend Car Championships, the 1993 Budlight Midwestern Figure 8 Championship, the 1994 Track Master Figure 8 Champion, his wins in seven different divisions, and Track Record  Holder for at Speedrome.

Doug's most exciting racing moment was in 1993 when he won the Budlight Midwestern Figure 8 Championship in Jefferson, IN. He is most proud of just being competitive in all types of racing.

His racing hero is Dale Sr.
