ED HOUNSHELL
#12c
Ed drives the #12c Dirt Track Modified
car. He lives in Middletown, OH. His Home
Tracks are Union County Speedway in Indiana and Florence Speedway in
Kentucky. Ed can also be found racing at Eldora.
Ed started racing in 1970 in the Hobby
Stock class at Tri-County Speedway, Ohio. He started racing because he
"got the bug" watching at Tri-County. Ed won his first Heat
win in 1970 at Tri-County Speedway and his first Feature win in 1973 at
Eldora. Both wins were in the Stock Cars class.
2001 Highlights include 4 Feature wins at
Florence Speedway and being 2nd in Points in the Modifieds. Other
career highlights include 1978 Street Stock Champion in Eldora, Late Model
Champion in 1981, 1982, 1984 and 1986 in Whitewater, Late Model Champion in
1986, 9th in UMP Late Model Points in 1984 at Florence County Speedway and
winning the Championship at the Ohio UMP in 1989.
The thrill of racing for Ed is relaxing
from working at AK Steel. His greatest racing thrill was making the
World 100 at Eldora in 1984 in which he won his Heat Race.
Jerry Cox (owner), Tim Cox, Eric Kesler
and Carl Sorhensen help with his racing career.
Jack Hewitt and Larry Moore are Ed's
favorite racing drivers. Ed says that
they both can really drive a race car and both are nice guys.
