Steve Shute drives the #44 Modified Class
car. He lives in Richmond, IN. His home track is Union County
Speedway but he can also be found racing at, Lawrenceburg and Eldora
Speedways.
He started racing in 1892 in the Hobby
Stock Class at Whitewater Speedway because it he grew up in racing.
Career highlights include 1987, 1988 Limited Late Model Champ at
Whitewater, 1988, 1989 Champ of Montpiller, 1988 Limited Champ at
Lawrenceburg, and 2003 Modified Champ at Union County Speedway.
The thrill of racing for Steve is the
speed , close competition and constructing his own car and engine!
He is most proud of the 28 Feature Wills All Special. His most exciting
racing moment was making the 4 Crown Nationals at Eldora IN., Late Model.
Steve's racing heroes are A. J. Hoyt, Jeff
Gordon and Ken Johnson.
Of racing, Steve says, "It will
totally consume you unless you are smart about it. It will teach you
patience and discipline!".
