Delavan
#6
Steve Delavan drives the #6 Modified
Class car. His home track is Adams County Speedway. He lives
in Tabor, IA.
Team members helping Steve are:
Father - Ken Delavan, wife - Betty, and Carl Fucht. Steve and
Betty are car owners.
He started racing in 1998 in the Vintage
Coupes Class at tracks in IA, MO, NE. and MN. because his Dad bought a
Vintage car and Steve has been a fan since he was 5 years old. His
first win was in 1999 in the Vintage Coupes Class at Shelby County
Speedway. Career highlights include 5 Feature wins in Vintage
Coupe Racing, 1 Clean Sweep, Heat, Trophy and Feature, in Rising City,
NE. and starting last in a Feature at Warrensburg, MO and passing 20
cars to finish 4th.
The thrill of racing for Steve is
driving the car close racing. His most exciting racing moment was
racing at Knoxville, IA in a coupe car and when Alan Kulwicki stopped
his car on Daytona Track because he saw Steve, as a fan, photographing
Alan's car through the fence. He's most proud of trying not to
drive over his head and cause needless wrecks.
Steve's racing hero is Richard Petty and
all of the local drivers from the '60's and '70's.
Of racing, Steve says, "Driving the car
is only part of it. Car preparation and upkeep isn't easy!".
