Nelson
#9
Sarah Nelson drives the #9 Hornet Class
car. Her home track is Algona Raceway but she can also be found
racing at Hancock County Speedway, Buena Vista Raceway, Shelby County
Speedway and I-35 Speedway. She lives in Humboldt, IA.
Team members helping Sarah are:
Dad, Grandpa, Kelvin, Mom and Andy. Her Dad is the car
owner. Sarah also thanks her sponsor, Nelson's Auto Sales.
Sarah started racing in 2005 in the
Hornet Class at Hancock County Speedway because she's wanted to race
since she was a little kid. She's wanted to race like her Dad,
Rick and grow up to be like Bill Elliott! Her first win was in
2006 at Algona Raceway in the Hornet Class. Career highlights
include being the first woman, since 1994, to win a race at Buena Vista
Raceway in '06 and finished 5th in Points at Algona Raceway for '06.
Her most exciting racing moment was
racing in Alta for the second time and being the first woman to win at
Buena Vista Raceway since '94. She's most proud of going into the
record book at Buena Vista Raceway.
Sarah's racing heroes are her Dad, Rick
Nelson and Bill Elliott.
Of racing, Sarah says, "Shake n Bake!
"If everything seems under control, you're just not going fast enough" -
Mario Andretti!".
