Mark Claeys drives the #55 Street Stock
Class car. He lives in Dixon, Iowa. His home track is Davenport Speedway
but he can also be found racing at Jackson County, Tipton and Q. C.
Speedways.
He began racing in 1991 in Bomber Class at
East Moline Speedway because his Father raced and Mark was addicted to it
and his dad got him started. His first win was in 1991 in bomber
Class At East Moline Speedway. Career highlights include, Raced bomber for
2 years and moved up to Pro Stock. Ran Pro Stock from 1993-1998. Best Pro
Stock year was 1995. Had 30 starts 25 Top 3, 28 Top 5's, all Top 10
finishes and 18 wins. Won 9 Pro Stock Feature Events including 1998 Season
Opener and Fair Race.
The thrill of racing for Mark is putting
on a fantastic show for the fans on the high side of any race track. His
most exciting racing moment was winning the 2003 Street Stock 50 and back
to back 25 Lappers in 2002 on home built leaf springs and being the only
leaf spring car out there, (at Davenport).
Mark is most proud of helping two other
guys driving a 50 Lappers at Davenport loaning them parts and one finished
5th and the other 10th. Putting a smile on all the kids faces that asked
for autographs, and visiting with them and putting them in the car.
His racing heroes are David Pearson and
Cale Yarborough.
Of racing, Mark says, "Just like any other
sport, it takes dedication and money. But has a lot of satisfaction when
