Micheal Leif
#80
Micheal Leif drives the #80 B-Modified
Class car. His home track is Davenport Speedway, but he can also be
found racing at Hawkeye Raceway and Jackson County Speedway. He
lives in Fulton, IL.
Team members helping Micheal are:
Mike Leif Sr., Veneta Leif, Sara Sikkema. Jerry Irvine is the car
owner.
He started racing in 2003 in the V-8
Cruiser Class at Hawkeye Raceway because he grew up watching his Dad race
and wanted to try it...now he's hooked. His first race was his first
Feature win. His 2nd Feature win was his 2nd race! Career
highlights include 9 Feature wins in 2003 at Hawkeye Raceway finishing
3rd in the Points, 1 Feature win in 2003 at Quad City Speedway finishing
9th in the Points, 9 Feature wins in 2004 at Hawkeye Raceway finishing
2nd in the Points.
The thrill of racing for Micheal is racing
side by side and winning. His most exciting racing moment was the
Feature win at Quad City Speedway, winning the Illowa Challenge for his
largest pay check. He's
most proud of when he came in #1 and Dad was #2, seeing both #80 cars in
the Winners Circle.
Micheal's racing hero is Dale Earnhardt
Jr.
Of racing, Micheal says, "I am 19
years old. I have raced for 3 years, 2 years I raced in the
V-Cruiser Class. In 2005 I moved up to Hobby Stock Class. I
finished 11th in Points. My boss, Jerry Irvine, bought a B-Mod and
I raced that 5 times at Davenport Speedway with a 4th and 5th place
finish. I look to do better in 2006. I would like a sponsor
that could help a kid. All the right turns are the hardest!".
