Damon started racing in 1994 in the
Hobby Stock Class at Marshalltown Speedway because his Uncle David Murty
started because of their cousin Darrel Defrance as well as growing up
with his cousins Gustins. His first win was in '95 in the Hobby
Stock Class at Marshalltown Speedway. Career highlights include
winning National Championship in Hobby Stock and Stock Car Class, '10
won 100th Feature win, won Stock Car Shootout in '06 and '10, '11 won
Race of Champions at Boone Speedway.
The thrill of racing for Damon is
winning. His most exciting racing moment was his 100th win and
this year starting in the 6th row at Marshalltown Speedway and getting a
flat tire on the 1st lap, going to the tail and getting up to 8th and
rear end flies out of car in front of him, coming to a complete stop and
go to the tail again and end up winning! He's most proud of all
the accomplishments that have happened over the years! That his
family is able to join him everywhere he goes and all the different
people he's met.
Damon's racing hero is Dale Earnhardt.
Of racing, Damon says, "That it is an
expensive sport if you want to win!".
